This week, let's go back in time ... (again !). After all, everybody loves a hero, right ? ...

 

1/ Did you have a childhood 'favourite' superhero or cartoon character ?

1/ Did you have a childhood 'favourite' superhero or cartoon character ? - Superman

2/ Did you ever dress up as, or act out the antics of, your hero ? - Absolutely! I was Superman most halloweens during my childhood. In addition to that, I played superheros with my friends quite often

3/ Do you have a 'real life' hero today ? - This one is kind of hard. I have a lot of people that I admire, but I don't know about a hero...

4/ Which superhero or cartoon character most closely resembles you ? Physically? Maybe Too Much Coffee Man?


Idealogically? Maybe Jack Hawksmoor - he can't stand a$$hats. And he's been modified specifically to survive and interact with cities. I'm a city boy.


5/ Which superhero or cartoon character would you rather be, if you could choose any ? Well, I've posted elsewhere a number of times that I'd like mental powers along the lines of Professor X/Martian Manhunter. My second and third choices would be either Green Lantern (the ring would be awesome) or Jack Hawksmoor (listed above).

1/ I always liked Spiderman because he was so real. Had problems just like everyone else instead of just the usual superhero larger-than-life crap. The person I tried most to emulate, though, was Mr. Spock. (I know, he's a TV character, but nevertheless he's really the best fit for the question.)

2/ Nope. Spock didn't have "antics." I did emulate his general demeanor and behavior (and still do, to a fair extent, really.)

3/ I like a lot of different things in a lot of different people. There is one person that I would like to model my professional life after, but he got laid off a while ago and we haven't kept in touch. (He made too much money, and in a fit of shortsighted corporate face-spiting he got the nose role.) He was a great model of cheerful effectiveness mixed with a killer business acumen and a great way of cutting right through to the heart of matters.

4/ If I had to pick someone, I'd say maybe Flaming Carrot. Seriously, I have no idea. Although, I do know a guy who's a comic book illustrator, maybe I can get him to draw me in as a minor hero sometime... (Chris Jones, working generally for DC. Currently doing "Dr. Blink: Superhero Psychiatrist". Some of his earlier works have the names of friends as sound effects....)

5/ Oooh, that's a toughie. In role-playing superhero games, I've had a tendency to play a "Brick" style character (big tough guy, ala "Thing" from the Fantastic Four); my most recent character was called "Huge". But I wouldn't want to be him myself. Silver Surfer would be cool, cruising around the galaxies. Or Nightcrawler, although his teleport is rather too limited for my desire.
Actually, my two favorite characters would be either Nexus (aka Horatio Hellpop) or his pal, Judah Maccabee. Yeah. Being Nexus would be cool (although he would not agree, I'm sure).

As a kid I loved to draw the comic book heroes of my day--like the Flame, SubMariner, Steelman, Superman, Tarzan, and Batman who was my favorite. But I was also fascinated by Disney's characters, especially in drawing Monstro the whale--not exactly a hero.

I dreamt last year that Christopher Reeve was inflicted with cryptonite which eventually wore off and he regained his strength and ripped off his tubes and got back on his horse.

3. I suppose, Ted Kennedy for his endurance and tenacity against all odds.

2/ Did you ever dress up as, or act out the antics of, your hero ? no. I did like to play dress up though.

3/ Do you have a 'real life' hero today ? yes. My mother and Maya Angelou.

4/ Which superhero or cartoon character most closely resembles you ? a slightly less crazy version of elmira on tiny toons (the one who smothers the animals )

5/ Which superhero or cartoon character would you rather be, if you could choose any ? Maybe someone like wonder woman, she has really cool accesories. Or Gene from X-men...you can't go wrong with psychic powers.

/ Did you have a childhood 'favourite' superhero or cartoon character ? I loved Shera and He-man and just about every popular cartoon of my time. Captain Cornbread (not to be confused with captain caveman) wrote a good blog about cartoons in which I recalled MANY!!! favourite cartoons.

2/ Did you ever dress up as, or act out the antics of, your hero ? When I was about 8/10 I think I pretended to be Captain Caveman when I was swimming in the Pumistone passage at Bribie. I have NO idea why - I know why I was pretending to be Ariel from the little mermaid, I can vaguely recall pretending to be Shera Princess of Power when I was about 7 at home playing on the swings - but Captain Caveman???

3/ Do you have a 'real life' hero today ? I don't think so...

4/ Which superhero or cartoon character most closely resembles you ? There are no superhero mothers, I think I'm (at the moment) most like Mindy's Mummy - "Don't call me lady call me Mummy - except I'm Elana's mummy and it's "don't call me dada call me mama" I think I'm most like Homer - "No coke and no tv make trina something something" (and I like donuts)

5/ Which superhero or cartoon character would you rather be, if you could choose any ? I think Superheroes work too hard - my life is easy compared to saving the world.

2 Did you ever dress up as, or act out the antics of your hero-No but my friend did one time. He was drunk though, and the costume was more like pajamas. it was hilarious.

3 do you have a real life hero today?-Not really...

4 which superhero or cartoon character most closely resembles you?- Buttercup from the powerpuff girls (the one with black hair and green eyes i think).

5 which superhero or cartoon character would you rather be, if you could choose any?- batman, (like adam west batman)because he's sexy and wealthy,has those cute little bat ears, he has a cool car, and the ladies like him, but the boys do too. Nothing like a sexually ambigious superhero.

1. No! I think my misspent youth may have been misspent due to this fact. I preferred all the crappy sitcoms like Different Strokes and Growing Pains and Parker Louis Can't Lose (if anyone remembers that). Sigh. i need to watch more cartoons!

2. Not really. My sister used to dress me as the 'Bop Girl' (again - if anyone remembers her. She had one really bad song - B-O-P-G-I-R-L....)

3. Not really. I don't want to look up to someone - it'll only make me feel bad!

4. Elmer Fudd? Kidding. Maybe Wonder Woman - I'm kinda buxom, although my knickers aren't nearly as large - nor worn for others to see!

5. Homer Simpson. He's got the best life out of anyone I can think of!

I watched Pugwall religiously. Go the Orange Organics. i even remember a little bit of his younger sister's rap... How sad. i don't remember Elly and Jools or Sugar and Spice though. Maybe I wasn't up early enough?

The woman who played the principal - Miss Musso (I loved Parker Lewis) is the voice of Dee-Dee Pickles on rugrats among other stuff. And the big guy...he had a name like..Larry - Kube something -- he was in ER

Elly & Jools - Rebecca Smart was this ghost called Elly who haunted the house of this guy Julian (clowning around??) they became friends - Abigail was in it too And Anne Tenney (molly from ACP) was the mum

Sugar & Spice was about these two girls who went to like boarding school set in the 60s? I can vividly remember the theme song Rhada Mitchell was one of the girls.

Oooh - I do remember Sugar and Spice now that you mention it. Elly and Jools is still lost on me.

My other fave was Round the Twist. Gotta love Paul Jennings!

I loved Superman when I was really little (3-5 years), had Superman PJs, a cape that I wore until it was light pink, and numerous toys. But once I became a bit more discriminating in my tastes Spidermand became my favorite, for many of the same reasons citahellion mentioned. He always seemed to be much more human than most of the others.



2/ Did you ever dress up as, or act out the antics of, your hero ?

Well, yes, I mentioned I dressed up as Superman, and yes, I did dress up as Spiderman as well (used to borrow my cousins Spidey ski-mask). And yes, I used to run around the neighborhood pretending I was swinging from webs and such. Oh, did I mention I was a geek? I'm sure you guessed.


3/ Do you have a 'real life' hero today ?

Absolutely. Gordon B. Hinckley.


4/ Which superhero or cartoon character most closely resembles you ?

I am having a hard time coming up with that one. I will continue to think and see if I come up with something.


5/ Which superhero or cartoon character would you rather be, if you could choose any ?

The one I have imagined the most is Wolverine. Gotta love the adamantium in his body, the claws, the self-healing.

That's the very one I'm talking about! I just did a search about it on google and it turns out that 'our Nicole' (Kidman, that it) was in the film clip. A nice piece of trivia for you (as though anyone actually remembers the song besides you and I!) As for why my sister was dressing me up to emulate the film clip... There's simply not enough therapy in the world!
