The AI are weird...in some way!

Basically, my TEC fleet has invaded an Advent planet and their fleet immediately escaped to the next adjacent planet, and im thinking, 'hmmm maybe il just wait for their counter attack, and just stay at the ready'. After 10 minutes i get bored and decide to send out a scout to their planet. All of a sudden my scout detects 200 ships ready to phase jump (you know, all lined up and ready to go) then a second later my scout gets eaten. So i decide to wait fot the counter attack and successfully intercept them fools, but no...another 10 minutes has passed and i get fed up and colonize the planet, out of curiousity i take the existing fleet and go to that planet. So we arrive but when im there, all i can see now is a few disiciples and trade ships, so i think to myself, WTF?! Either they've gone around the star system to catch me at the other end or they've retreated for some absurd reason.

Eventually i found out that they retreated, and i got them from both ends, and KAboom!

Becuase of that mistake, the rest of the game was way easier then i thought

and i was expecting some sort of challenge ;( but the undeveloped AI gave in :D:D

The AI will not attack unless it is sure it will win. Also, if you bring a fleet that is bigger than the AI's into a system and the AI thinks it will lose, it will retreat. Every time. Of course, this causes a rather laughable problem for the AI in team games since it doesn't count allies in its calculations, so if there are three medium sized AI fleets they will flee from one large human fleet.

yeah I noticed that too.

playing vs. 7 hard AIs alone was a joke because only 2 of them were the "agressor" type - the rest got smashed by my underdeveloped vasari fleet in no time.

the only way to get a real AI-challenge is to play vs. hard (or unfair) agressor AIs all boxed in 1 team and locked teams.

Bump. I'm quite disappointed this still hasn't been "fixed" yet. I can imagine that smaller fleets instantly retreat because it's blatantly obvious that they'll get mauled.

But there is a lot of room for victory when you have equal sized fleets, but the AI doesn't seem to agree. They retreat every single time. I'm not going to elaborate on this again, and there are still plenty of topics about.. but gah. This is just stupid. The only "proper" fights I can have with decent sized fleets are against the pirates, for goodness sake.

theres a AI update in the 1.1 beta changelog. Hopefully it addresses some of these problems
