How to use Wormholes?

Hi there, I'm new to the game and our basement was recently flooded so my manual is either trashed or lost in the mix.

I just tried to play on the last medium sized map where you have to travel through wormholes to get beyond the first couple planets in your area. I can't figure out how to send my ships through the wormhole though. Please help!

It is a technology you have to research through the 'peaceful' tech tree. After it is researched just tell your ships to go directly into the middle.

First, check you Sins files, you should have a .pdf manual. (At least the digital download version does, and I am pretty sure that I had a .pdf manual included in previous Stardock physical box purchases.) Second, it wouldn't have helped you anyway; I searched the manual in vain early on for this precise information and had to search the forums for the answer (ditto for travelling between multiple suns). A classic illustration of the venerable Stardock tradition of poor, and highly incomplete, manuals.

...I, personally, found this particular aspect of the game to be 100% intuitive: Research the wormhole tech - different names for the different factions - or find that artifact that allows wormhole travel, select your ship(s), and right-click the centre of the wormhole.

I am getting extremely frustrated! I have researched everything that is possible to research, built every structure possible and still can not get my ships to travel into a wormhole. I've tried selecting the move icon and pointing them in and I've tried right clicking the center of the wormhole. My ships will approach the wormhole and just stop. I can see other faction's ships moving in and out but mine will not enter. The same goes with trying to get them to phase jump using the sun. Most of the time they won't even go to the sun but if they will, again, they will just sit there and I get the red "X" whenever I try to go to another sun. HELP! What the Hell am I doing wrong?

I had or should I say have this problem as well with 1.05 (Ships stuck in a star gravity well when directed to phase jump to a nearby star, as I've only had this game a few days I can't speak for earlier versions. I had to break the group down (40 ships of assorted sizes down into 10 ships size groups)and order each smaller group to make the phase jump. Smaller groups >5 I've noticed or single ships jumped from star to star no problem.

Maybe we found a bug?

Your fleet is too big and they can't get enough room to jump together. Right click the icon to let them jump separately and you should be fine.

Cheers.

I am playing a stock map on 1.05 and I cleared out my little corner of the galaxy to build enough Temples to research the far jump capability... I did that and sent a scout to a wormhole system and it doesn't do ANYTHING... just sites there.

I've even tried a couple of different classes of frigate but that doesn't do anything either.  I know it can't be a ship class thing because I've seen allies with thier scouts (same race as me) in my backyard...   what is going on here.

Did you actually right click the wormhole in the middle of the gravity well with your units selected? You might want to load up a new map and see if its just a bug

Long Range Jumps does not equal Wormhole Travel. Long Range allows for star to star travel, not wormholes.

Interstellar jump tech is Tier 3 for TEC and Advent, Tier 2 for Vasari, the icon is a ship phase jumping to a star.

Wormhole tech is Tier 5 for TEC and Advent, Tier 4 for Vasari, icon is an arrow through a wormhole.

So you have the answer by now Im sure but just in case, and for those who don't here goes. If you're looking to get to those other star systems wormholes aren't your answer; one just uses them for quick in system travel. You must research long distance jumping (titled different in the tech tree for each race I'm pretty sure) Once you have that tech researched you actually jump from your own star; not from the worm hole(s) in your system. (forget the worm hole) That should get you there. Hope that helps someone!
