Saved Game crashes PLEASE HELP

Everytime I load a saved game it crashes, even loading current civilization, it crahes. While I can start a new game just fine, its those saved ones that crash. When it crashes it just takes me back to my desktop like nothing happened, and doesn't tell me anything. I've reinsalled, and that failed, so I've given an email to StratFirst, but I wanted to see if you guys could do anything about it first.

StratFirst just gave me a bunch of bullshit I already know, but I did send them the dx info. any help at all would be much appreciated, especially from frogboy ;)

You can try updating your Direct X to 9.0a, update your OS, and goto your video card manufacturer to update your video drivers.

What version of the game are you using? There is a bug in 1.03.057 that causes ships to lose their home system, which causes the save game to CTD when loading. If you email your savegame files to CariElf she can fix it for and mail them back. She did that for me and some other who ran into this problem. Although she may not be able to get to it this weekend.

I think this bug is fixed in 1.04, but I don't think that will do you any good with your current game.

Yeah I have Drengin and 1.03.057, and latest direct X, plus I emailed my saved games to Brock to see if he can fix em, do you think he can give them to CariElf to fix em, or if he can fix them himself?. But I cant seem to get the beta for 1.04 from Drengin.net, cant find it. I dont know, Stardock Central kinda confuses me anyway, I may just wait for the full version. I also reinstalled and everything else Brock suggested. Kinda a bummer though, having to go back and reconquer the areas I lost due to the save game crashes. Think that 1.04 will allow me to use the other saved games that crash now? :notsure:

Does anyone have an email link for CariElf. My save game CTD on Load and I've got 1.03.057v. Must be that Home system bug. 10 hours into a game that I am feeling pretty good about, and I don't want to forget about it...

oh well....still love this game.
