Cool idea for starfighter and Corvettes (!)

I was in a game that I lost, because I was second in millitary power, on the evil side and Green and light blue attacked me. I could not maintain the peace, even with high diplomicy. I had lots of money from trade goods but with millitary production and the spending slider at 100 percent. that only lasted a few years. And I did have trade with the green guys and was spending over 100 credits a turn on destabilization.

All that being said, the only way I almost won the war was to set the ships the red guys gave me to auto attack, (they joined the war with me) and kill trade.

As the weaker power of three strong powers it would have been really neat to have an autoattack for trade and constructors, simmilar to what the uboat did for Germany in WW2. The problem is when the ships autoattack a battle cruiser....

I don't think I am the only one who needs to buy time until Dreadnaught in the mid game on normal intelligence. I don't think it would kill the game balance to have a specific war on trade when in a weaker position.

High destabilization spending just about guarantees that they'll go to war with you when they catch you at it.

Why not control your trade-interdiction force yourself?

This is not outside the realm of possibility... I think Brad has stated before that he would like to expand the game further with trade raiding ships and expanded piracy.

As Freddybear points out though couldn't you manually steer your warships to civilian targets? Although I admit it would be "easier" to have an auto-attack feature to target civilian craft, but only becuase it's hard to spot the small freighters.

You know this brings a feature suggestion to my mind...

In the Diablo series of games you can press a key (ALT? CTRL? I forget which one) and while you hold it down, treasure on the dungeon floor will glow or be highlighted making it easier to spot.

It would be great if you could press a key in GalCiv and have blue rings or glowfields highlight the small freighters and anomalies on the screen. (In fact even the sensor drones and missiles can be hard for me to spot sometimes)

This would be doubly useful if there is ever an option to zoom out to a multiple sector view! ;)
