How to extend volume

need more music space :)

Ok, I can't get my image to show, (I can see it in "Edit" mode) so...

I have some unallocated space on a disk which has 2 partitions, G: and H: I want to add the extra space to H:

I have tried using the "Extend" function, but apparently Vista Home Premium does not support dynamic disks and will not allow me to Extend H:

Does anyone know how I can add the extra space onto H:?

Thanks,

David

have you tried using a third party program? maybe the disk that comes with a Western Digital hard drive?

also are your drives IDE of SATA? that will make a difference...

Well, I was thinking of just using Gparted (the Linux partition manager)...

This drive is a regular P ATA drive which has been enhoused (LOL at the word enhoused, how about encased) and is now a USB drive. I had planned on putting inside my new machine, but those drives are all S ATA drives :(

End of quote

Werewolf... go to Control Panel> Administrative Tools> Computer Management> Storage> click on Disk Management> right click in the disk identification area (first section numbering your HDD's) and select "Convert Disk" Here you will be able to convert your disk from a 'Dynamic' to a 'Logical Drive'.

Hope this is of assistance. :)

I would just use an ubuntu live CD and gparted (if i didn't have a dual boot with ubuntu or other gnome linux already). Its free and easy and it works.
