I'm very new to this, but I'm looking for mods that do the following:

-More detailed textures and pictures for planets, ships, improvements, technologies
-More detailed descriptions of ships and technologies
-new kinds of planets and possibly better looking

do they exist? what are their names/homepages?

are you good at texturing Dsep could really use the help with the BTL mod he has hundrends of ships.But none of them are textured so if you can texture ships he could use your help.And in return all of us over at http://www.i-mod-productions.com/ will help you with all your modding needs.So if your intrested contact Dsep by pm thanks.

Ship textures were improved massively in both expansion packs, although I can't think of any mods that improve texture quality. There is the Hi-Res graphics mod, that adds higher-detail planet textures. Read here for more info.
