What? No alignment?

In my most recent game as Terrans I researched Xeno Ethics, picked Neutral and went on with the game. Shortly afterward tabbed out and GC2 crashed. When I restarted from an autosave I found I didn't have an alignment and couldn’t pick an alignment of any sort even though Xeno Ethics was complete (and I purchased Harmony Crystals).

Is there a way to pick an alignment after researching Xeno Ethics? Or am I out of luck?

That's odd. Do you know how the autosave was timed in relation to the XE research (same turn, right after, not even close)?

Not quite sure, but it wasn't too long. I have the autosave set to every 4 turns.

I'll likely play the game through. I'll just lose the benefits of being neutral.
