My tuppence worth ...
Hehe - I just cleaned up my desktop with OD+ and now we get this.
It's looking good so far, I was about to post about the problem with RightClick but see that was already thought through. I have noticed that it doesn't work with IconX but that is no surprise as they are both replacing the icon management in different way.
I like the above idea of a Recent Documents list, how about a browser favourites one too?
Another idea I have had is that one of the first things I wanted to do was collapse a fence down to its title bar, or to a "meta icon".
I do wonder if you might want to avoid too many feature tho' - otherwise they just turn into transparent folders on the desktop.
Oops - another wee glitch - the interaction of the <Windows>-D and OD+ is a little flaky - sometimes docks appear on top, sometimes behind and slide-on docks don't work whilst in that mode. <Windows>-D mode also sometimes switches back to a different maximized application. Hmm, once I double click on something in this mode, it seem to start the new application but minimize any maximized applications I had open.
The whole <Windows>-D mode seems a bit confusing - It seems like I have switched to a blank virtual desktop rather than just bringing my icons to the front. I love the idea of popping my desktop icons to the front - its always irked me that I have to minimize everything to get to them - which is one reason I tend to work with an icon free desktop, it just tends to end up as unavailable clutter. I wonder if an option to only bring the fences themselves to the front without hiding the underlying applications (maybe just dim them) would work?
Those are my thoughts so far.
This is looking very promising.
