My tuppence worth ...

Hehe - I just cleaned up my desktop with OD+ and now we get this.

It's looking good so far, I was about to post about the problem with RightClick but see that was already thought through.  I have noticed that it doesn't work with IconX but that is no surprise as they are both replacing the icon management in different way.

I like the above idea of a Recent Documents list, how about a browser favourites one too?

Another idea I have had is that one of the first things I wanted to do was collapse a fence down to its title bar, or to a "meta icon".

I do wonder if you might want to avoid too many feature tho' - otherwise they just turn into transparent folders on the desktop.

Oops - another wee glitch - the interaction of the <Windows>-D and OD+ is a little flaky - sometimes docks appear on top, sometimes behind and slide-on docks don't work whilst in that mode.  <Windows>-D mode also sometimes switches back to a different maximized application.  Hmm, once I double click on something in this mode, it seem to start the new application but minimize any maximized applications I had open.

The whole <Windows>-D mode seems a bit confusing - It seems like I have switched to a blank virtual desktop rather than just bringing my icons to the front.  I love the idea of popping my desktop icons to the front - its always irked me that I have to minimize everything to get to them - which is one reason I tend to work with an icon free desktop, it just tends to end up as unavailable clutter.  I wonder if an option to only bring the fences themselves to the front without hiding the underlying applications (maybe just dim them) would work?

Those are my thoughts so far.

This is looking very promising.

Another small bit of oddness, a little tricky to explain.

Drag a fence off the bottom left or bottom right corner and the icons will attempt to stay on-screen - you can then keep dragging the fence away from the icons leaving them behind as if they were no the desktop. If you pick up the fence again they will pop back into the fence, and sometimes they will pop back whilst you drag the fence away.

A few more:

- I can't place an icon outside a fence in the bottom inch of the screen.
Can't say for sure that this is Fences or some interaction with OD+ but a fence can use the bottom inch - just not independent icons.

- something seems to mess up the "Exclude this icon from quick-hide" option. I think it is the

Another piece of oddness - with a picture ...

oddness

As you can sort of see - the icons are in the fence but not in the fence.
They scroll with the scrollbar but aren't clipped to edges of the fence.
They also do not vanish with the double-click although they are not marked excluded.
They do move when you move the fence.

Resizing the fence does not clear it.
Taking a snapshot and re-instating it doesn't clear it.
Auto-arranging the desktop doesn't clear it.

Came up like that from a cold boot - about to try a reboot to see what happens.

A reset sorted it out.
