ANZAC Empire, 'Bridging the Ditch' Thread

Yes Well... *cough* I was a little tired of posting on the Aussie Empire thread. ;)

*Intentionally cheesy opening Address*

So gather round all you ANZAC Citizens, Lend Me Your Ears... and your games, Forget whether your accent is more nasally than your neighbours and Post those Gigantic Games on Masochistic Difficulty! *pause for applause* Now Begone and play Galactic Civilizations till you starve, then play some more! Think GalCiv, Dream GalCiv, (Breath GalCiv?) ...Be THE GalCiv! and return only when you have defeated the evil intergalactic minions that plague us and halt our advance up the metaverse board.

*cough*

Yup, Let's beat em Guys.

I was impressed by the way that Pontius turned the quiet Canadians into the silent army of the undead with minimal participation from the Canadians themselves.

Ahem. Give credit to where credit is due. I am the one behind that conspiracy. First in the White Council thread and then in my Major Empires thread. :)

But of course.

Pontius have you no shame, was there really any reason for name calling there, especially when you are not adding anything to the thread but trollish stuff. I'm trying to be civil here and continue a good discussion, we don't need that kind of stuff here...its not even trashtalk anymore, its just stupid and I for one am sick of hearing it.

Ok, I think I see how the locals can put up a formidable force. Since you are all based from locations on Earth, make some sort of United Earth Federation or something. Of course then your all in one place....

It's simple. Don't act like an idiot and you won't be called one. Don't start with me and you won't get punked. Is that too hard to understand?

Another Evil chapter is unveiled...

Existing in the negative extreme of Metaverse polarity, Drop Bear and KitWarrior are kept apart by the laws of physics. Rare is the occasion of their paths crossing. This day is rare.

The war between G.R.O.S.S. and The Republic was closing. Kit's corvette hurtled towards the ANZAC border at double a stock model's speed. Under newly forming war clouds, he had been dispatched to scout "locality" territory. Sometimes bold tactics are called for. To Skowbo!

After slipping into a kangaroo suit, Kit marches into a pub with purpose. Unfortunately, with his vision hampered, he immediately bumps into a large hairy object.

"Well excuuuuuuse you, mate," the wall of hair muttered.

"I don't need an excuse... uh...," Kit struggled to identify the beast, "you koala!"

Drop Bear simply leaned backwards and fell on the kangaroo. BOOM!!! Tables shook and everyone's attention was focused on the bizarre sight. The costume's head had popped off, thus enabling Kit to recognize his opponent.

"DROP BEAR!!!"

"KIT!!!" Drop Bear looked wildly around the pub. "Where's Slitherin when I need a sandgroper?!?!"

Kit's struggles became frantic. "You wouldn't dare!"

"Oh wouldn't I?" A deep Evil laugh followed - only to be broken by a high-pitched yelp. "YOW!" Kit had managed to unsheathe his rapier and poke the massive creature in the rear. Jumping out of the suit and waving his weapon to clear a path, Kit dashed out the front entrance.

"You haven't seen the last of me, Evil friend! War will make this a certainty!"

Drop Bear watched the pirate's figure diminish in the distance. "What a loon."

(double edit: I can't type today. I'm still shook up by being turned into furniture. ;) )

Welcome back to middle school everyone!!! :CONGRAT:

Congratulations PB, you've just made an a$$ of yourself and shown us all just how insecure and childish you really are. :SURPRISED: Slowly and surely you've degraded into a schoolyard bully. You're above comment was the antithesis of what this community is. :notsure:

Step back and think about where you're taking us, I dont want to go there and I'm willing to bet I'm not alone.

idle out

Problem with that name is that you have to answer everytime Sephlock calls you.

How about Sports? Rugby?

Something related to Aussie/Kiwi in theme perhaps but wide enough to appeal to non-Aussie/Kiwis.

First Seal: The Spymaster

The Ship of Doom was docked, with its skull and crossbones flag carefully stored away, it seemed. Now Dropbear saw when the lamb opened one of the seals, a way into the Ship of Doom. The white seal over the jagged hole on the lower deck fell away and Dropbear slithered through. Dropbear quietly worked his way through the bowels of the ship, till he came to the room with a sign that read ‘Pirate Wives Club’. Around the clubroom were quite attractive women sewing and reading magazines and chatting as they do. Nonetheless, they looked somewhat sad and neglected. A particularly gorgeous elfin beauty was quietly darning a pirate’s sock with a wistful look.

“Oh look”, she said, putting down her needle and sock, “what a cute little bear”.
“Hello” said Dropbear ingenuously, “you wouldn’t be Galadriel would you?”
“Why yes”.
“Oh, I’m so pleased to meet you” said Dropbear. “Why, I’ve heard sooooo many stories around the Council tavern about your husband. What a fine handsome man he is, and he cuts a swath through the pretty girls in his ample spare time…”
Dropbear was talking to an empty chair. Galadriel was out the door, muttering: “We’ll see how much spare time he has from now on. No more lonely nights for me while he goes cavorting with his mates”.

Dropbear grinned and slunk away, his first mission complete. The Spymaster wouldn’t be doing much of anythin… much of any Galciv-related thing for the next few months, Dropbear guessed.

Second Seal: Conflict on the Ship of Doom

The second red seal was harder to break. Yet, sooner than later, bakka had wriggled through, and crawled along the airduct. Above the meeting room bakka patiently waited, until the poetry reading meeting had devolved into an acrimonious slinging match, as GROSS poetry reading meetings sometimes did.
“And another thing EB…” bakka said through the airgrate, in a perfect imitation of Pontius’ booming voice. EBZM hissed and glared at Pontius above the brawl, “You know not to call me that”.
Pontius looked puzzled, as he often did, “Um, uh, pardon, sorry, che?”
“Get over it, EB” bakka trumpeted (again in perfect imitation of Pontius’ voice). EBZM sprang to his feet and jumped over the pirates who were now punching each other on the floor amongst the broken beer barrels and scattered poetry books, “That’s it. I’m outta ‘ere. I’ze just taken for granted ‘ere”. EBZM stormed off, for the final time it appeared. Bakka grinned wickedly, as Pontius looked bewildered.

Later that evening, the peace meeting was in progress. The simple farmers were seated on one side of the room, the pirates on another. A Peace Pipe had been lit and its heady smoke was already calming the gathered meeting. Spymaster Gerraken was the first speaker, chosen for his suave manner and optimal choice of buttery words (for which he had won many Prose contests at the Viscountess’s Skowbo swamp Temple, but that is another story).

The Spymaster looked frazzled and very, very tired. “We are gathered here to find common ground. To forge trust and friendship between our two great empires. But first I feel that our leaders should give a hand of friendship to each other, as a gesture of where we want to go.” Pontius and a farmer got to their feet and each began to move a hand of friendship towards the other.

The timing had been critical. With a flick, Dropbear switched on the disc and from the ship’s speakers came gittar music and the sounds of:
Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya
Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya
Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya
Oh Lord kumbaya

Pontius screamed at the music and raised a fist, shouting. The simple farmers reared back in horror. The peace meeting dissolved into an ugly brawl, watched by the Spymaster who shook his head sadly.

Dropbear looked on. The second mission had been a complete success.

Idle: You rile on maturity and namecalling all the while calling names. What a hypocrite. You say you don't wish to go down that path, but did exactly that. Again what a hypocrite. And if you support misinformation and empire bashing, which you did on your thread. And if you support the bashing of EBZ's play style, which you did, all the while your high scorer playing the same style, then quite frankly, you're just as big an idiot and hypocrite as he. That's not namecalling. That is fact. And you're just as big a bully as you claim I am. And if you don't like what I say, that's too bad. I care not what the likes of you thinks.

One technical note drop bear. Pontius always, and I mean always has a liason meeting in port (for obvios reasons) during poetry readings. I wouldn't be there.

Otherwise, it's a gr8 story. :) I love it.

The fact is you at the mwc started with what represents the antithesis of this forum. You're just Po'd because someone has the nerve to stand up to you. That's too bad.

For names with animal themes:

Extinct Species Protectors
with slogan: The platypus, the drop bears, what other species should be long gone by now?
the Dregins, the Torians, the Arceans, the Yors, and the Altarians, of course.

The Animal Planet

Terrestrial Center for Divergent Evolution
with slogan: Aussies and Kiwis and Altarians: what 50 million years could do to you.

Wow, there is just so much material to work with on this and other threads that I took the day off work. Not to mention that my lower back is causing me agony from the move. And don't worry, if I don't work I don't get paid, so it's not a sickie.

Slitherin: Don't forget we're waiting to see how plan 128 pans out.
Wombie: (Tell me if ya don't like my nickname for ya) I am warming to The Commonwealth.
Ray the Wanderer: Them are fighting words. In fact, all ANZACs stop having birthdays at 29.
Slitherin (again): I personally like the idea of a Terran animal theme empire. Although, unless one was into writing stories using animal characters (not everyone's cup of tea) it would somewhat restrict membership?

The ANZACs have soooo much kulcha to show the world and we wouldn't have done it without being grouped in the one place. How would we continue to harness this aspect of the Southern Hemisphere if we changed to a theme?
