Wrestlers... that is evil. Drop Bear now becomes the mighty Killer Koala. I can see it now. "Uh-oh, the Mysical Mage is in trouble. He's being set up. The Killer pulls off a stunning suplex. The Mage slowly gets to his feet, but he is no shape to fight right now. The Killer Koala grabs him with ease. Oh no, look out! Oo. That was a devastating pile driver. This fight looks over. Wait, the Killer is climbing the post. He's going to execute his fatal famous finishing move, the Drop Bear. Here's the jump... He missed! The Mystical Mage rolls out of the way. The Killer is sitting on the mat, howling in pain. The Mage gets to his knees. He quickly moves behind the Killer Koala and puts him in a choke hold. Wait! The Mystical Mage is also kneeing the Killer's sore back. The Killer Koala is in trouble. He is being held in a choke hold and being pulled back onto the Mystical Mage's knee. The fight isn't over yet!"

The PC game actually has a really neat icon - eagle crest with an F on either side; it has a slighty corny stars and stripes design in the centre (no offence to our US friends!), although no doubt it could be edited.

Can anyone give me the lowdown on making a new empire, uploading icons, changing nicks?

You would need to quit ANZAC first. Then you should see the Create Empire tab in the Metaverse page.
Clicking that would bring you to the Creation page which would ask for your Empire name, Motto, Website, Status (Open, Invite, Closed), etc. It would also allow you to attach a 16x16 pixel jpg file for the icon. Easy.

For nicks, go to wincustomize.com. Login using your Galciv account. Choose Edit Account, Change Nick.

As Ray said earlier, looks like we need a motto at startup and if anyone has ideas for an icon I'm interested. A 16x16 pixel image doesn't leave much room for detail, though?

Icons are .ico. Metaverse wants jpg files but I've converted mine (save as .jpg) from a ico using some graphics editor.

So yes, possible.

Just to let you know that a search for a red hot icon that looks great in 16x16 format is pretty frustrating....I'm happy to have a go at creation by hand but give me some ideas regarding images (thanks Slitherin, I got the mailed fist). All ideas are helpful - got name, got motto (well, no one has disagreed with my suggestion) - need icon and we're set! I'll MAKE IT SO as soon as all the pieces are in place.

Thanks Space Wombat. This time my vendetta against those Drengin fueled my ambition!

From a tactics perspective, I followed some of the guidelines from the strategy guide (I think Staffa's approach I don't have it in front of me), but focussed on economic growth after the initial land grab, this let me rush purchase trade goods & wonders. (Galactice Stock Exchange was key.)

I also worked hard at getting everyone else to attack the Drengin as they were the dominant civilization for most of the early game. Then drove for cultural domination disguised as military conquest. Still find it tough to hold my nerve sometimes when way behind technolically for much of the early game.

Anyway some thoughts, new game already underway!
