And I thought AFKers in Dota were a problem!

After playing for about 15 minutes, my 2 Rook AI teammates died once (level 14-15) and when they respawned they sat in base the whole time. So yeah needless to say I eventually lost :P but its very strange because enemy AI died several times and never just sat in base idling..

The AI does seem to get confused sometimes. I've had a game where an enemy Demigod just sat there :P

Happened to me too, and to other gamers (as reported on other threads). In my case, they respawn and waste time before going back into the fray : are they pondering deep, deep metastrategic options ?

happend one time only to me seems rare

The AI is not smart yet.
End of Doommastr's quote

That's OK : I'm even less smart, yet, at that game. Consequently, my games with 5 AIs are « dumb & dumber » matches. :meow:

Had a game where two of the enemy AI, a Torchbearer and a Rook, decided base defense was the only option.  They only responded once the citadel was being attacked...and by then they had no portals for respawns.  Quick Game to say the least.

The working Regulus was a sniping annoyance though.

At least they responded to something, one time both my allies stuck by the crystal while the citadel was being attacked, they were even in range of some of the creeps...

Yeah, the AIs occasionally leave their brains off to save power. I think that when they stand there for a while, they're shopping indecisively. Either that or are just feeling apathetic.

LOL!  I just had an image of Torchy and Regulus standing by a shop:

Reg:  Well, what about this one?

Torchy:  Oh, I don't know.  Look, do you think this breastplate makes me look fat?....

Lmao. You could be right about indecisive shopping :P.

"Ohhh what shoes to I want?"

Darn Demigoddess, make a choice!

You people are soooo nasty : making fun of retarded A.I. beings -- shame on you.

Pray that you never meet the Terminator III demigoddess. :cylon:

I think the politically correct term is "MENTALLY CHALLENGED". You should watch what you say, Sorceress :P

In the case of hardware machines & software-code A.I.s ... I don't think that "retarded" will hurt their "feelings". :cylon:

REPORT :

I know that this issue has been reported, but I wish to add a recent example to illustrate it.

Sunday morning, I played with 2 Rook allies against 3 Torchbearers. When I reached about level 15, my 2 allies decided to become AFK. They stood in the back, and did not move anymore. The 3 enemy A.I.s did not do the same, and of course, they were pressing very hard : I could not manage the defense all by myself. I lost the game, while my 2 Rook allies were still not moving & doing anything.

I realize that it is a Beta 1 to test compatibility : that's why I'm not angry that I lost. I started a new game, and we won ... but then, my allies were not Rooks.

I wonder if this AFK syndrome only happens with Rooks and/or it is an aberration which happens in an irregular manner.

Then why should I be ashamed of making fun of them ;).

Good report but for me it happened with a Rook and a Regulus :\.

REPORT #2 :

I just left a game where I was allied with 2 Torchbearers. When I reached level 20, one of them decided to park himself in the rear, at the structure where we heal our wounds : he NEVER moved from there until the bitter end (He wasn't even facing towards the enemy) !?! And then, when I reached level 24, my other ally also decided to remain in the back, stationary (He, at least, was facing the invading enemy and casting spells).

Well, of course, the enemy Rooks pressed their major assault against our base, and "we" lost.

:annoyed:  If it is a problem with A.I. coding, why does it seem to more often affect my ally comps, and not the enemy A.I.s ?!?

(But it is perhaps a random, irregular « bug » that sometimes affect one side's comps, and on other occasions, affects the other side's comps. My victory, earlier this morning, was perhaps due to the fact that is was then my enemy comps' turn to be AFK.)

I tend to see my allies go AFK more often than my enemies, too, but I have noticed both happening, with all the demigods, but the rook seems the most likely to go.

I've seen the "light" side idle in base more often than the "dark/evil" side. It may just be chance but this is my observation.

I think they all have an equal chance to do it.  I've not noticed it against a team of full AIs though.  It only happens when there are teammates.  While it does happen on respawn, I've also seen it when they go back to the base to heal.  Really annoying.  In the next patch can we choose to turn off the AI?
