online play rank game question

I will be playing this game with mostly with 1 friend.  So does that mean we can only do 2v2 arranged team rank game?   or can I do 5v5 rank game with 1 friend and 3 strangers?  Is there random and arranged team ranked games?   How about non ranked?  can I play a 5v5 with 1 friend in non ranked?

I never played supcom so I don't know how supcom sets up their rank and nonrank game.

there is only a max of 3vs3 map in the beta.

 

And what do  you mean ranked?  This is beta.

maybe he's refering to when the game is released...?  In that case, we still don't have the details of ranking/matchmaking other than that it will be handled by impulse.

I'm talking about the final release game.  I guess there's no information about it yet.   Supcom was handled by gpg.net.   So this game won't use gpg.net?

This game will use Impulse which'll work similar to gpgnet.

Blitz64, I doubt there will be a possibilty to play a ranked 5vs5 match with your friend and 3 randomly added strangers, either it will be completely arranged or completely random (I hope they include both).

So if you want to play a ranked 5vs5 with your friend I guess you'll have to ask around for a few teammates.

Thinking about it again... I think it would be totally cool if you could "host" a team and after your friends joined you can open it for public so everyone interested can join and once the team is full you start searching for a match.

That would certainly make finding mates for big teams easier. Let us keep that in mind and maybe we can pester the developers enough to get that implemented.

 

Custom games will most likely be set up like in most RTS: someone hosts a game and everyone can join. So you will certainly be able to play with your friend in such a game.

The biggest achievement of Halo2/Halo3 was their match making..  No reason not to steal a bit from it.

Does someone always post spam on forums =(.  Also with the matchmaking don't try to copy halo too much, gears of war 2 tried to do that and look how screwed up their ranked matchmaking is.  Just simply a catastrofuck.
