Regulus

Balancing:

Regulus: quote "Armed with a powerful crossbow Regulus can snipe enemy troops and structures from great distances"

Sadly this is not the case.

Crossbow range to small either increasing range or adding a camoflauge which can be broken by demi gods and towers, this would fix the ever so weak hero even with the +7 range the distance is poor and almost on top of a rook still due to their size. This means Regulus can become enveloped quickly. If he is a support character then he should beable to fire from behind the front lines surely?.

The sniper shot could be more powerful with a longer cooldown (to compensate) as the maximum isn't powerfull enough, espeacialy  when enemy Demigods have increased armour. Maybe with some damage over time too could also improve this, perhaps fire?

Laying mines: It would be nice to beable to place strings of mines by draging out a line from a start point, with the cooldown timer between each placement animation.

I always like the option for a sniper to be invisible until they take their shot, something like Command and Conquer- Generals). So I would agree with camo, which would take care of many of his problems and have him act more like a sniper and less of a mining battle trooper that has a power-shot ability. Not that there's anything wrong with him being a battle trooper.. the sniper/battle trooper specs would be different.

Crossbow range is fine when you consider the range of everything else. You can fight at quite a distance with Regulus compared to the rest.

You're right that sniper shot is weak. In fact, the best Regulus build currently seems to be going for all 10 of the upgrades at the bottom and just autoattack-DPSing.

I agree the sniping shot is too week. You can almost get the same damage using normal weapon fire and using items that speed up normal fire.

I think sniping shots should ignore armor too.

max the snipe and bottom 10 and get CD items u can shoot that off every 5 seconds and until lvl 20-25 thats pretty good

If you get the 2 damage items (+65, +200) and max your bottom 10, you do more damage per second with a regular shot than you would sniping since sniping has a slight charge time.   Add a few more attack speed items, and you can drain an AI rook in little time (I say AI, because any decent player would hit you with their boulder, hammer slam you, then slap you a few times for the kill).

So yeah, mines, snipe, AOE nuke, etc are all distractions.

The range is fine as is. If Regulus' base range is increased to much then it will be to easy to kite in the early game and too much of an advantage. His increased range, that he has to spec for, is pretty substantial considerd the size of the map. The problem is more with the Rooks speed than Regulus' range IMO. I agree that snipe could use a boost.

Perhaps a stance for Regulus that increases base range and the power of his snipe ability. The "Stance" could have a set-up and "exit" time. With proper ally support he could be a sniper. Or he could run around and be the hit and run character he is now.

Crossbows have its limites thats all i can say u could only push it back as much as the weapon allows as for a regular bow which is limited to the string and the strenght of ur arm reguluses range is fine its long when u get the +7 more yards or whatever

Indeed, if its realism then check this

A 15th century crossbow can go 50 yards regulus is in trouble (whos bolt kinda just plops out the end comparatively) is no where near that and look at the size of it! the longest recorded crossbow shot being 300 yards http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A2866061 kinda a miss match.

Maybe just another range boost as an upgrade perhaps at a later level, rather than increasing base range.

i made another comment about the scale of this game if u read that and put it togeather with the size of 1 of his arrows its basically the size of 5 trees put in a straight line and i dont think something that big flies far

Ok thats pretty big, but wouldn't his crossbow power scale proportionaly it would be the same surely?

Yeah, the bolt is huge but have you ever seen a crossbow as big as the one Regulus carries around?

Ballistae don't count.

End of rawlogic's quote

nope. i don't think it would scale linearly; double the dimensions of a tree and it weighs 8x as much, double the the dimensions of a bow (this applies to most machines as well) and you get 4x the power.

we arent talking double here if it was double even with a balista id would be the size of of Regulus Eye pupil this is about x100 for the bow and maybe x90 the tree

I don't really see why faster attack speed items shouldn't increase the casting time of "attack skills".  That is, skills which use your weapon to attack, rather than spells.  IE, snipe and hammer smash.

But there needs to not be ways to double your attack speed for that to be very balanced..

Yeah, otherwise if a Rook hammers you you're fucked whether you're stunned or not.

Yeah.

If the highest +IAS you could get from all IAS items combined was like +40%, base attack speed was faster, and hammer smash was like 2 seconds then it wouldn't be much of a problem.

But right now you can get +90% from just those two items.
