The typical progress bar on loading screens is boring

Hey :)

I know, the current loading screen is just a placeholder (it´s called temp_vs_3v3_pax) but I hate those dumb standard progress bars on loading screens. There are some games which have a pretty progress bar, in my opinion of course.

Like the one in "Drakensang" (not sure if you know this game) and in "King´s Bounty" (the following example is taken from the demo version of King´s Bounty).

The following picture is just an example. I´ve taken the first pictures I saw, so of course it´s ugly, needs more work etc., doesn´t matter. I just want to make a suggestion. I hope you understand my direction :)

For instance, instead of the "vs" thing you will see a little picture of your demigod. Around this picture maybe the progress bar which proceeds from the bottom to the top.

It´s just an idea, maybe a traditional vertical progress bar with nice effects (like ongoing flames or whatever). Would be nice too.

I propose the loading screen challenge player a game of tic-tac-toe, and if they lose, they can't get in.

 

Seriously I would rather have a chat window, depending on how long network play loads. On AI play I on't see the loading screen for 4 seconds... Ok I cheated because Demigod is installed on a fast SSD drive I have.

im pretty sure the demigod pictures, the 3 on each side, will be replaced with actual picked demigods.

 

A chat window during loading like WiC and UT3 would be great too though.

I just don´t want the typical:

"Loading" + white progress bar etc.

Just some visual effects, chat window like WiC would be nice, too (played the beta).

I'd like a chat window as well.  Otherwise I couldn't care less about what the loading screen looks like.  It's fluff that I'll forget in 15 seconds.

I agree with this Idea that the loading screen need a progress bar of some sort.

A special one would even be better.
