can't update to 1.03 , invalid CD kay

I recently bought Galciv and am trying to update it to verison 1.03. Every time I try to dl the patch I enter my CD key and it says it is invalid. Is there something I am missing on how to update the game?

One thing to note: the CD-key is case sensitive. So, if its in all capitals, you need to enter it as all capitals. Similarly, you may or may not (I don't recall which) need to include the hyphens.

i did both of those. It lets me install the game using that CD key so it must be valid i just can't update it

When you register it in the SDC (download program) you have to enter the reg # there also.

But there are two different places you could enter it depending on what you actually purchased.

If you bought the GalCiv game only you enter it in the GalCiv Field.

If you bought the Drengin.Net version then you enter it in the Drengin Net field.

Some people have had the problem you describe because they were entering the reg # into the wrong field.

On a similar question, if we register it under a email address and we change email addresses, anyone know if we can get the the details changed to reflect this?

Elrikk,
I entered the CD key in the GalCiv field it still responds "invalid cd key". On the software list in SDC it shows Galciv and lets me download "bonus pack 1.0.06" and a "windowed verison" But it still says the software failed in registering. Help?

Did you buy this software previously owned? If you did then the CD key has already been used by the other owner and needs to be wiped clean by Stardock, or return the game and buy one at full price (which is what I ended up doing).

Last ditch effort to help ;)

There is a problem with "1" and "l" ("one" and "L") seeming the same.

Same goes for "o" and "0" ("Letter" and "number").

That's all the problems I can think of.

You can e-mail stardock to change your registered e-mail address.

4242424242,

I think that there were problems with SDC yesterday because other people were reporting odd things with SDC. If it's still happening today, e-mail [email protected] and see if he can help you.
