have a realy good ship desgin part so you make the classes of ships your self and have more than 1 or 2 ways of determaning planet quality and a verity of uninque racesbut you have an interesting idea are you doing this solo or a company thing i would like to get involved if possable. I have been waiting for a chance to break in the game design market and the only game i have ever made didnt turn out to good it was a PC RPG called The Ring OF EverDown its not that it was bad the story was great (i wrote it) and the battle Engine was origanl (i desigend it with some help) but the grafics were 16bit and it wasn't worth copyrighting, me and my Pals made in grade 8 (i'm only in grade 10 now) we only made like a few hundred dollers off of it >:( not worth the 7 months of divelopment we spent more than we made over the coarse of 3 "staff meetings"(stupid expensive pizza and dounuts) and we had those bi-weekly but it was fun.

I'd advise you to check out the Stella Polaris project. It may still be alive, there were lots of ideas thrown (probably in every direction too) for that game.
Look for it on the Alt Civs forum at //apolyton.net/forums. I am not sure their forum is still open, and can't check now, but you can at least get the archives. Also check for existing projects if any would suit you (and Mark Everson's "Join an existing project or make your own" thread).
Good luck anyway.
