Mybe a little (but still laggy). My comp is AMD 4400@3ghz 1000mhz 2gb ram, 8800gt 512mb.....do i need a new cpu or what?

It's sort of normal to get slowdowns when you play very big maps with lots of units. It's the curse of all similar games, even pure turn based games. In Sins, every unit has its own AI and when you get to a few thousand units on the map.. you get the idea. The CPU and memory start to choke a bit.

In short.. your system is fine, it's just a side effect of tons of stuff going on.

Ty for answers.

So is normal to be lagy at huge 3 stars sistems? Time is 2:1 (real time : game time)  - with c2d clocked 4ghz too? I m realy lookin for upgrade for my x2 4400 to e8400@4000ghz, just for this game. Would that improve gameplay to 1:1?

As far i understad, this game uses only one core.....sooo Intel qouad wouldnt inprove prformance?

p.s. again sorry for my english (slovenian :)

SINS only uses an additional core for texture pre-caching.....after that the game is all single-core.

End of lavit's quote

The one that you want to upgrade to would be worse. For example a single core at 3ghz is worse than a dual core at 1.5ghz. your graphics card could be the problem or just turn down the texture graphics slightly and it would be up to speed.

Its not necessarily your computers ability to draw that is the choke. Like others have said, the game has do run hundreds of lines of script and code for each Player/Ship in order to run its "AI". That Increases drastically as you add more ships. And, as you add more planets, you add more routes, and add greatly to the number of calculations that need to be performed for pathfinding.

In short, The problem is much more CPU than it is GPU. But, it being at this stage incredibly difficult to code a game to utilise multiple cores, we're all boned for a few years yet.
