Did ya ever wonder???

Did ya ever wonder why each individual planet doesn't have it's own distribution sliders?

In other words, when it comes to social, research, and military percentage...don't you think the planets would take on a certain INDIVIDUALITY if each were specialized?

I know for a fact that, in star clusters, the planets with the better PQ would be geared towards social & research, while planets closer to enemy territory would have the slider more towards military.

Does that make any sense?

No, never did. The game was designed to gloss over the tiny details to let you focus on the big picture. Embrace the concept or go play something else. I've played both kinds of TBS games and I find GalCiv's approach to be far more fun in the longterm.

Too much micromanaging can be bad in Galciv. In fact, I get the distinct impression that the budget sliders are not lockable to keep me from fiddling with them, lest I waste 30 seconds trying to balance it just so! But, back to a serious matter, the only management item I personally have a complaint about besides the slider is wasted resources. Does it have to be that every colony I decide to take out of social production throw its share of the money down the drain? Individual system sliders are not the answer, but some sort of method where otherwise wasted money will not be spent or can be automatically diverted to the planet's other project or to research would be nice.

I think if they introduce less than 100% wastage, they ought to introduce diminishing returns as well. That would make more economic sense, though It may make the thing very complicated.

in civ2 someone reminded us that there was a "capitalism" tech taht let you convert production (shields) into cash (gold). this sorta makes sense as the government returns the unused resources into the civie economy.

;p Never seen it in real life, here in Germany the government will always find a place to spend the money....

IMHO the easiest solution would be
- Spending sliders for each governors
and/or
- reducing the unused production wasted

This would prevent any micro-management

The problem here is we look at money, see in our real world money can be used for anything and say why not?

In this game, money is merely a proxy for resources. Which in the real world, can't all be instantly converted into Guns vs butter. You cannot use plastic to make a skillet for example (you all know what would happen) So some sort of wastage is appropriate IMO to reflect that. And to be honest, when i know I'm about 20 turns from the end I just turn off show ship moves turn on autoskip, set my sliders to pure teck so I don't have to worry about that "Oh wait but you produced this now what?" pop up anyway and just turn away. hehe.
