Rich Limbaugh is a thug.

The TV Messiah speaks .

Rich Limbaugh is a God in his own little heaven. How Americans can place a thug like this on such a high pedestal beats me. Obama hasn't taken three steps yet and is now a Chicago thug. Who's next : The Pope---a Vatican pimp?

Makes me sick. Enough said.

Rich Limbaugh. ;)

Thankfully, we still have the freedom of speech in this country.  And Obama has taken many steps.  he is at he white house door now, and leaves a lot of bodies in his wake.

I personally will not use the term thug as I think there are better ones for him.  I wish him well, but not his stated objectives.

BTW:  The "thug" came from his treatment of opponents when he was in Chicago politics and Rush stated it long before Obama was elected.

Oh, so diplomatic. Don't hang onto your phone; he's not going to call you to be secretary of state.

I will use the term thug for Limbaugh.

Nope --- a Vatican thug. 8(| ;)

But if you haven't been paying close attention to Illinois politics & Chicago politics in particular over the past couple of decades, you might not understand how appropriate the label might be.  Chicago politics are very... muscular, shall we say?

Just to clarify: Limbaugh repeated his "thug" comments wnen Rahm Emmanuel was appointed. He probably would have called McCain a has been soldier and Sarah Palin a gun-happy Mama. The point I was making is that freedom of speech is every American's right but it is taken to extremes. Is Rich Limbaugh a comedian, a political commentator, a clown with verbal tricks or just a dumb asshole who sees an opportunity around every corner? He offends. Is that enough?

Definitely that last one.  He's long past the point of relevance.

We should all be so 'dumb'.

So it is ok for liberals to use it, but not conservatives?

Some.  He does not offend others.  Quite frankly, Emmanuel is thuggish (stabbing a steak knife into a table and yelling "Dead" at the mention of each name on a list?  what would you call it?  Etiquet 101?).

Limbaugh does offend those he disagrees with.  But then those that dont agree with Limbaugh would not call him a thug - it is too polite.

Thanks Doc for that. I guess Americans do really adhere to the freedom of speech thing and that's probably how it should be (Land of the Free and all that), but don't people get a little tired of crass commentators who "rule" the airwaves and become celebritys simply because they are controversial for controvertial's sake?

I'm feeling my way here as a conservative outsider but in my "society" offending for kudos does not cut it. Neither does crass overplay for self-gratification or "scratch my back, I can say what I want." We South Africans are different so let Limbaugh carry on with his petty journalism. I understand.

Here's a bit of trivia for you as well.  Limbaugh did not coin the term.  Bill Clinton called Obama a Thug back during the primaries.  Limbaugh was just borrowing the phrase.  I wonder why no one cares that a former president used the term to describe the next president?

It's RUSH Limbaugh.  You could at least do a little homework to find out the name of the person you're complaining about.  I happen to find Rush very entertaining.  I didn't know he was on TV though.  I have heard his radio show but not seen him on TV.

I think Rush puts himself on a pedestal and makes no bones about it.  He is as straight forward as they get.  His Ditto heads love him for it.

Why does it make you sick?  Is it because you don't agree with his politics?  I can't stand how snarky and far left Rachael Maddow is so I just don't watch her.  I respect her right to have a show and as many fans as she can get.  We need all flavors.  Sometimes you learn more from opposition than anything else.

We had one in the community room of our dorm.  But that was not the early 90s for me! ;)

To Jilluser,

You're right Jill, it is Rush Limbaugh. Reading a spelling mistake on another site is not a question of homework--it is misreporting. I find many of these and as a foreigner I must say we do sometimes make mistakes. I found your comment patronising.

Funny how a bombastic conservative is a thug, while a bombastic liberal is just "outspoken"
