How to end allances with minor races?

how do you make alliances with minor races? My relations are always neutral, even if I offload all my tech research to them for free.

I've never even wanted to ally with them....

Sometimes they don't like your alignment, you playing evil? Create some trade routes with them, this is a good idea in general, their home systems are NICE quite a lot of the time. I think just keeping relations open is generally helpful too, like continued offering of tech (even if you're charging for it) and so on. I also never refuse a request for ships from one.....

There is currently no way to break the alliance unless they ask you to help them in a war and you refuse.

I've fixed it in our code.

Actually there *is* another way to break an Alliance, make a demand of the other empire (such as demand tribute, demand attack another race, for planets). When I did this to the I-League ally that I had, the alliance broke.

Yes, it should be in the latest beta of 1.04 that's up now.

Will that also fix the bug that prevents you from using destabilization on the minor races as well? In my experience when you try to adjust the slider for destabilization for one of the minor races it instead ups the destabilization for one of the major races. Sounds like the same or related bug to me.

Whats the strategy to allying w/ them? It seems you could do a few things with a minor.

1) Swindle their tech from them.
2) As a arms customer (sell them ships)
3) Trade partner b/c all other civs are targeted for destruction or too unreliable
4) Free high-value planet (after a short invasion).

I usually do #1 and #2, then when they run broke I invade em. Thoughts?

You're not supposed to be able to destabilize or spy on minor races, and so those sliders will be hidden when you're on the minor races screen.
