OK. Call me anal but all the gradient silhouettes are driving me nuts. So I decided to make a full set avatar from the Elemental resources we currently have. Please note that Luckmann has added many more avatars to the collection.You can get them below.

I have tried to include suggested pages to find more avatars by the various avatars if you want to look further. You can also use the "view edits" button if you're very very brave to view all previous versions of this main thread and the images where-in.

This OP is under construction. Due to some browsing issues it is being completely reformatted and built from scratch. There are other user avatars and lots of additional avatars that are supposed to be here in the OP. Jalicos (page: 15) and eplekogen (page: 5) come to mind right away. They should have avatars in this OP soon. Of course wintersong has tons of avatars scattered throughout the web. its a work in progress tracking them down and sorting into 'official art' and 'unofficial art' especially since some of the old 'official' art did not match the current style as well as others.
We are busy people though, and editing this takes more time than one might think.

If I had to guess I'd say it's because some people could be prone to a seizure from some. Don't wanna get sued because the little forums users have dudes with wagging fists
There was also a browser security issue a year or so ago about virus or worm action in animated sequences but I'm not sure how that works. Maybe a real programmer can elaborate on it.
Code can be stuck in a lot of places. The key would be forcing a piece of code to be excecuted in a way that it can do some sort of damage. If there is a bit of code that creates an animation, it might be recognised as such and run to do exactly that. Then it just needs to do something OTHER than animate the image, and slip through a security hole somewhere. A lot of animations make use of scripts that could in theory apply to something other than images.

oh man, I'm very pleased to see it pinned. I was pretty happy when it was added to the 'news' but this is great. I'm thinking we'll have to make other things such as banners and such now.
@spartan: In theory Travitar's current avatar may need to be added to the list. I'm not sure that thrawn's animated png should be posted. Its awssome (provided you're using a browser that supports it) but kryo made it clear that its not allowed. Wouldn't want to get somebody in trouble.
Also the "troll" avatar was wintersong's doing. Wintersong just left me to post it because there was fear it might offend me. giving credit where credit is due.

man, if you want to get REALLY nerdy about it we could steal the unused crest, the "crest of kindness" and turn it into an armor digivolution. ;;; (season 2 introduced armor digivolution based on all the season 1 crests, then introduced a new crest for a character that was apparently the younger brother of a "digidestined" in season 1, but this kid never made it or something. only season 1 guys had crests, and this dude got one, suggesting he should have been one of the season 1 characters. Since he wasn't in season 1 though, and the armor digivolution was before his crest appeared, his crest didn't get an armor.)

And I think it's you catching up to Spartan, but I'm not 100% sure.
I only saw the first season of Digimon but it surely felt a lot better than Pokemon. And kyogre12 is righty right about the Karma.
I would personally love to see banners. I'm using several of the avatars on various forums too.

anyway, he has a bannor already. Perhaps he should start a thread on it. But I want to create some that better match the style and theme of the game.
I actually started a bannor a while ago. At the moment I have my 3D art, and some work I'm doing for a small startup gaming company, but as soon as thats finished I plan to get back to it. What would be really nice to create bannors is if we could find a non-youtube version of the teaser trailer.

Yep - desktops. As far as skins go, I assume SD would make an official one but if other artistically inclined people want to give it a try then I say go for it. Maybe Luckmann can handle that aspect.
I guess its just whoever makes something worth sharing first. I suspect desktop wall papers will be around very soon. Bannors, I know I need to do more research to see what might be the desired size expectations. With no signature's supported on this forum, I have no standard the way I do with the avatars.
I might go ahead and have the sizes found on the Sins forum + those thin bar-strips (like a single image and some text) I've seen some forums that end up being only like 4k images
lol, I leave kryo to deal with it.
But sigs are "supported" you just need to copy and paste them into each of your posts. I know it's humbug but the functionality is there. I do think SD should allow them via the UCP however.

Shoot there could always be a "show sigs" option put into the UCP for those that dont like them.
After all Elemental is exactly the kind of game for which it would be very nice to have sigs on the official forums.
I'm not about to fault anybody for not having Sigs on this forum. I certainly don't mind. It does make avatars a pretty big deal though.
