Games Plays A Few Days Then Boots Me Out

Crashes after a few hours

Playing TOA and getting about 1/3 or 1/2 way through the game when it just stops working and I'm booted out.  I thought it was the large size maps but I am playing the medium sized and when all the planets are occupied and there are wars going on it throws me out of the game consistantly.

I have the latest drivers for my 8800GTX nvidia 512MB card, and I have 4GB of ram and all my other games work.  This one works great for a while and then it runs out of memory or something.

I've looked on the forums for an answer but can't find any.  The OS (vista) was installed fresh about three months ago.  I've always had this problem from the first day I got Galciv with XP a year or two ago.

Has anyone been able to finish a game with a medium to large map and 9 computer players?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Hi!

The usuall reply to your and similar problems is, you copy the whole content or the file DEBUG.ERR (text file, open with Notepad) immediately after game crashes, and paste it here in a new message. The file is usually in your game folder, but IIRC Vista has is somewhere else. Other community members will sure point you to the right location.

Please open your debug.err file in notepad, and copy/paste the contents into a post here. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem. The location you'll find the debug.err in varies depending which game you're playing:

Dread Lords: My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2
Dark Avatar: My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar
Twilight of the Arnor: My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor

Older versions may store the debug directly in the location the game is installed at.

Be sure to copy the debug immediately after the error occurs; if you start the game again, the debug will be erased and recreated for the new session.
