Cant connect to ICO

Have you been connecting before the patch or is this your first time trying? Make sure Sins is allowed through any firewalls you might have. ICO should be working fine, I tested logging in but some other folks have been posting that they can't, so I'm not sure.

This is not my first time. before I logged in here I rienstalled the bonuspack thinking that maybe something went wrong there. A few minutes ago I tried downloading the Impuls and ran into this :

To reiterate: I have played plenty of games before and logging into ICO seems to be a problem at this time only. Impulse will not instal for one reason or another.

edit: I havent changed anything in terms of my firewall settings or internet connection since I last played.

You know that's been popping up today. Can you install Impulse with http://www.impulsedriven.com/impulse_setup_full.exe ?

It should bypass the need for the setup to download additional files, so the error shouldn't happen.

So it sounds like you haven't updated to 1.1 and it's your Sins 1.05 that gives the ICO error? If so, try the above link and patch to 1.1, ICO should be working normally with the updated Sins, it shouldn't allow any old versions to connect.

I am now downloading the link. Your assumption are all correct, if this works I will post here.

The link works and I installed Impulse. After finding the v1.1 and waiting for it to load up it had to restart. When Impulse started again there was no sign of the new version. At the top right under "My Games" it says Installed version: 1.05.028

Cripes If you hit F5 or go to the blue orb in the top left and select "Check for updates", does it show up?

At the bottom left it says "logging in".."retrieving latest information".."validating response" ..and then nothing happens!

Ok seems on that Blue Orb you have to go to preferences and tick "show prelease version" for the update section to come back up again. I am in the process of installing it now. Will check back in here if it works.

That's strange, you should not need Show Pre-Release enabled to see 1.1. Are you sure it's listed as 1.10.036 and not 1.09b[b] or something of that nature? (I forget the old beta version number).

I also had my update tab disappear, and had problems installing the Impulse update - I had to figure out the full setup method before coming here, but that did it for me too

Good thing I updated my working copy of Impulse - seriously, how often do you have to update that thing?  Surely you realise every change is another chance to break it?  Considering I depend on it to play purchased games, forcing me to constantly leave behind versions I"m comfortable with is irritating

Its listed as 1.10.036 - but after running into the multitude of bugs in the game so far I can only be thankful that it is not that much of a problem this time, and only because I was able to solve it..with your help:P

stay tuned for the conclusion. its at 21% now and counting.

edit:Based on what you said I tried de-clicking the "show pre-lease version" and it warned me that going through with it would cancel the download. So it seams like a requirement to be able to acces the v1.1 update, at least in my case.

That's actually normal now in the beta build of Impulse V2. They're trying to make it less cluttered, so unless there's an update to download the tab shouldn't appear.

Well, 1.1 fixes I think pretty much every bug that's been known and some new ones that were discovered during testing. It should be pretty near smooth sailing.

Edit: I think it warned about cancelling because it needs to re-log on with different settings, but I can't say for certain since mine is already updated so unchecking it wouldn't do anything.

Also for the sake of completeness, if you're running Vista, some people reported it hangs on "Verifying" after the download finishes, if that's the case and it takes too long you should exit Impulse and run it with Admin privileges (right click > run as admin). You won't need to download again, it should pause when you exit and you'll be able to resume extraction. This is just going by what some other folks talked about on IRC so mileage may vary or may not even happen

edit: I run vista and il keep my eyes peeled.

• I can't connect to Ironclad Online (ICO) or any LAN games.

Make sure your software firewall (including the Windows Firewall) has not blocked Sins of a Solar Empire. With some firewalls it may appear that Sins has frozen, as the firewall is waiting to receive confirmation to proceed. You may need to exit Sins and restart the game in Windowed mode (IsWindowed in user.setting) in order to get around the firewall's pop-up. Alternatively, you could configure your firewall prior to starting Sins. You also have to be able to connect to both port 6000 and port 7000 on ICO.

 

 

 

I cant connect, i dont have any firewall on, my router has its off. I am running vista32 and i cant log in to play, someone fix this!

I have Sins 1.12.042 and played several games on Ironclad Online over the weekend. Then suddenly last night I got that "disconnected from Ironclad Online" message, as if my Sins was out of date. Impulse updated itself and now says "no new updates are available for installed applications." No changes in firewall or hardware at my end.

Was a new Sins patch released perhaps? if so why isn't Impulse installing it?

Other theories?

Last night Ironclad Online was down. It hit me too.

Sometimes the server goes down for no reason at random times. If you are ingame, it will suddenly freeze for no reason, once you quit the game, you will return to a totally empty lobby. If you are in the lobby, you get get kicked with a you are disconnected from ironclad message.
