[Fixed]Cannot play Lan or ICO multiplayer games with roomate

Ok here's the deal I bought my copy of Sins through stardock digital download (which I guess means I have the collectors edition). My roommate bought it in a store. We can both play single player fine and can both play ICO separately but whenever we try and connect through local Lan games we get a 'data differs from host' error. We've tried everything I can think of to fix the problem but have not been able to get it to work.

We've tried:

1. Reinstalling both games

2. Updating both games to 1.1 version (though we have had the problem since the first release of the game and have tried again every patch)

3. Tried using the useless search function on these forums to find out if it's a known issue but no matter what I search for there are never any results

We both love the game but if we can't get some kind of solution I think we're pretty much just gonna give up on this game because the AI just doesn't even compare to playing against another player, which is why we bought the game in the first place.

Also one more note we had a third person who bought the game, installed and updated it and we were all getting the same error no matter who tried hosting. Kinda hard to have a lan game when you can't get the game to connect. X(

I'm assuming none of you have any mods at all enabled?

This is really strange.

1. Disable any mods.

2. Run a binary compare using the trial BeyondCompare of your two Sins install directories across the network. This should take several minutes.

3. See if there are any file differences and report back to me on the results.

No mods installed at all

I'll try the compare and get back to you on it.

Okay after doing a binary compare there were 2 files that his had that mine didn't. One was a frensh.str file in the string folder and the other was buff_boostresourceextractionself.particle

The only reason I can see this may have happened is due to mine being the digital download. If that is the case then for future reference Stardock might want to consider changing which files it validates, or maybe implement a better check of files in the future.

Oh and by copying the missing files from his folder into mine it seems to have fixed the problem.
