Mid-West Confederation communication & recruiting thread

Mid-West Confederation communication & recruiting thread

It is my pleasure as a new senator of the MWC to congratulate all good peeople of fertile lands with incredible success that our empire achieved in the recent past.

We are not the fastest growing empire but the quickest to rise in ratings. Opportunities are excellent for new (and seasoned) players to make their mark on the face of Metaverse.

We are not asking anyone to defect from other respected empires. We are asking people of midlands (of North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, Japan, all islands) to join MWC. If desire to help a real and noble cause will regretfully make you leave existing empire so be it. Be strong in your true aligence.

We defeated G.R.O.S.S, others are shaking seeing MWC make it's way up.

Celebrate if you are an MWC member. Join us and we shall go together to the glorious future of the Mid Western Confederation.

(Pontius, you can do your alien racial scam and polute this thread with silly claims).

Are there any other orators in MWC (other than Zoshan)?
End of quote

There are a few Ray, I've tried my hand at it a bit but I don't think that I am the literary type. I too hope though that our aspiring talented (and not so talented such as myself) writers continue to add to the story of GalCiv.

Oh and congrats MWC for holding on to first place through the weekend!

Welcome to our new members BobRichie and Whohangs. Check out our website at http://idle.thehueys.com/midwest

It was a cold dark night, but then again they all were these days. The MWS Liberator had just "liberated" another neutral sector just east of MWC territory on the galactic map and sent word to the nearest MWC systems to send in their colonists. There was no reply, there never was….the people of the MWC tended to keep their distance from those like me. Seemed my methods were too questionable for them. I couldn’t blame them, I hated myself for some of the things I had done for their benefit. The sentient creatures I had destroyed or enslaved to ensure a productive world for the colonists or the ruins of long gone races that I had desecrated just so my own people could flourish….but it all faded to blackness nowadays….there was no guilt or shame just a simple dark satisfaction with a job well done.

Only the neutral systems would be gone soon, too soon, and our attentions would have to turn to our new neighbors, the twisted race of mutagenized animals that called themselves the Freedom Force. They posed a serious threat to the natural wholesome ways of the MWC and would have to be dealt with to continue our expansion. And ever since our rise to galactic dominance the Pirates of GROSS had become surprisingly quiet on their comms, this was disturbing as it could only mean a devastating attack was looming. They knew our strength was in open warfare, where our Excalibur class warships and planet based missiles could tear through their quicker highly modified warships. Now that their fleet was scattered and silent…..they were more of a threat than ever.

Then there were the people of the Fellowship. Under the powerful leadership of a mysterious wizard by the name of Ray, they had flourished in the metaverse and had attracted quite a following. But they too posed a threat to the sanctity of the MWC as it had been determined that Ray and many of his followers were not human. They had been transplanted into this dimension from another due to a malfunction of Earth’s stargate and had become known as the Middle Earth peoples. How many had come through was hard to determine, as the malfunction went undiscovered for many years. And although they coexisted with the people’s of Earth for sometime, the advent of star travel and the allure of forming their own empire away from the mere humans became strong for some. For their magical ways and strange races had frightened many native born humans and caused a new wave of "witch hunts" throughout the world. So their numbers continue to grow as more people of Middle Earth leave the Sol system to join their kin in the Fellowship. However, they smartly established their new empire far from where the MWC laid down roots and tensions have cooled considerably. So until we once again are forced to come in direct contact, I suppose we could work together to control the threats that we all have in common, such as the terrible Undead CSF.

So I shall travel to the homeworld of those in the Fellowship and meet this wizard Ray. Perhaps there I shall find some way to redeem myself in my own eyes, but until then my soul weighs heavy over what I must do to keep the MWC strong.

Just as the USS Cylo was reloading a new wave of antimatter cowpatties, the cruel pirates managed to lock a tracker beam onto cargo utter 2. The two ships struggled in a desperate tug a war when the happy ship Frodo droped out of ringspace to launch a barrage of elven biscout mines and then quickly slipped back into ringspace and began to outpace the struggling arch rivals.

The white ring wraiths have pulled ahead, said Senator Idle. Pontius turn off your disruptive sonic weapon and let us both pursue our second favorite rival.

When you're several thousand years old, you have a lot of time to think.

Especially when you spend the majority of that time alone.

Kryo, as he had come to be known, was a very pragmatic man. If, that is, you could call him a man. He had not been one for much more than the first thirty or so of the thousands of years he had existed. His pragmatism was deeply rooted in the fact that he had been forced to do whatever was neccessary to survive for the past few thousand years. Only the most open-minded individuals in history had been able to understand him--most others saw him as some sort of demon or evil spirit, and as such he stayed away from them as much as possible.

However, the times had changed, as they tend to do. Humanity had made contact with other intelligent life forms, and the tide of xenophobia was ebbing. Many people were now able to embrace the concept of "unconventional" life forms.

Chief among these people where those of the Midwestern Confederation. These kind and hard-working people were striving to combat one of the last and strongest groups of xenophobes yet remaining--the interstellar pirate gang known as GROSS. And besides, the tendency of tme midwestern people to embrace the simple joys of nurturing the land reminded him of older, simpler times--times when he was yet human.

"Focus. Here. Now." thought Kryo.

As was said, when you're thousands of years old, you tend to have a lot of things on your mind. As such, it is very easy for your thoughts to drift.

Kryo was alone and unarmed, on a hostile world. His first officer, safe aboard the cloaked Ranger class ship which Kryo had named Blizzard, hated when Kryo did this. But it did need to be done, and it was fun to boot. Besides, his crew were simply used to having a human commander. Kryo, as he was, knew that any threat he might encounter on his covert mission would be miniscule.

The world where he presently was had taken some rather extensive amount of work to locate.

It was the world which held the hidden factory that had been producing clones of the hated pirate emperor, Pontius.

"Cap'n, our thermal sensors are showing an anomaly in sector four. It looks to be very cold," called a security henchman. "The stupid things are probably just acting up again. Have maintenance go look at them, mate... er, matey," replied the commanding officer.

It was not long before a maintenace detatchment reached the sector four entrance and went outside to have a look at the sensor. They never noticed the dark blur fly in the open door behind them.

Kryo floated down the hallway silently. Aside from the heavy locks on the outer doors, which he had easily bybassed thanks to the careless maintenance team, the facility's security seemed to be very lax.

Eventually, he arrived at the entrance to the hangar which housed primary cloning system. Amazingly, it was actually guarded.

Kryo approached the door, hoping that the guard would notice him. After all, if noone noticed him, then what fun would the mission be?

"Odd," Kryo thought. The guard was reading an australian magazine. The guard was not so engrossed as to not notice Kryo's approach, however. "Who the hell are you?" asked the guard. "Never mind. Just show me your authorization and get on your way," the guard continued.

"Even odder..." thought Kryo. He wasn't wearing any sort of disguise, other than his usual cloak, mask, and gloves. The guard didn't seem think that someone dressed like this was uncommon. There was no reason why anyone would need to be so heavily clothed in a pirate facility... unless... "No, that couldn't be it." Kryo thought.

Kryo lifted his head and allowed the guard to see his glowing blue eyes. "What the--!" the guard shouted, reaching for his photon pistol.

Kryo, unfazed, began to slowly remove his right glove. The guard quickly snapped off a couple of shots into Kryo's torso, and stared in horror as he saw his shots burn holes in the creature's cloak and pass directly through its body with only a slight sizzle before they impacted on the wall behind.

"That stings," issued a gravelly voice from behind the mask. "And I just bought this cloak."

By this point, Kryo had removed his glove and dropped it on the ground. The guard's expression grew even more incredulous when he saw that the creature's hand was composed only of a glowing blue vapor.

"Now you pay." said Kryo simply.

With that, he thrust his hand into the guard's chest, his sleeve crumpling up in a pile around his arm.

The guard gasped his final breath, his heart and most of his blood now almost completely frozen.

"That never gets old," thought Kryo. He let the man fall to the floor, then picked up his glove and put it back on.

He then proceeded through the doors, and stood in awe as he beheld the hundreds of cloning pods before him, all holding copies of Pntius in various states of maturity.

Kryo collected his composure, and set his will even harder.

He began to seach for the central control systems, and happened upon a concealed door.

He opened the door, and was awe-struck once more. The room he had entered contained a smaller cloning system--and it was was hard as work churning out none other than mutated drop bears and wombats.

His wild suspicions had been correct. Either this facility had been secretly commandeered by the rebel Australian faction known as Freedom Force, or the Aussies and Pirates were cooperating. Either case was unfavorable to MWC and thus could not be allowed to continue.

A little more searching, and Kryo found what he was looking for--the coolant lines for the factory's main generator. He removed his gloves and placed each hand into one of the lines, and waited a few moments for the hot fluid to congeal and eventually freeze into an impenetrable blockage.

As his cloak had two gaping holes in it from where the guard had shot him, Kryo released the frozen particles he held suspended within himself (in order to maintain a basic humanoid shape and hold his cloak on). His cloak landed in a heap on the floor below him, and he hastily set off flying through the walls toward the outside of the factory.

Two minutes later, as he stood beside his cloaked shuttle craft donning a fresh, intact cloak, Kryo watched the factory erupt into a gigantic fireball as its coolant-starved generators reached critical temperature and exploded.

"Mission accomplished" he thought contentedly to himself.

We are holding strong at #2. Closing on the ring wraiths and distancing the Caribbean boys. Come join the MWC and help us push the pirates and hobbits back into their holes (or holds as the case may be). ;)

Of course, we all realize that it is your stellar recruiting drive that is really keeping up the momentum here. (Nice job there!) We'll be more than glad to fight our way up to you if we have to. :)

Yep, our recruiting is something that is propping us up, too. But our recruits are better than your recruits ;p

Although most of my GalCiv time is writing WotW excerpts now.

Wow 2 days of inactivity here in the MWC forum...must be summer in the upper midwest. (For those of you outside the upper midwest the term summer usually refers to the 2-3 week period where it is warm here.) Winter should be just around the corner!

Welcome to the new members of the MWC, we appreciate your support, please peruse the forum here and check out the MWC website http://idle.thehueys.com/midwest for further strategies to win at GalCiv.

We have been number one in the metaverse before but have slipped into a slumber once again. Perhaps you'll be the one to wake us and lead us back to galactic domination!

Also, check out Gerakkens excellent thread regarding empire alignments here http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=75130#82305 to get a good description and snapshot of the MWC. Thanks Gerakken, for a pirate you ain't half bad.

Hi to all Midwesterners, wherever ye may be! And thank you for the welcome.

One question I have is how do some people play games so fast? I saw someone (can't remember who) who had two Gigantic games in like one or two days :SURPRISED:

It takes me a couple of days just for a small or medium. That makes it harder to rise in the rankings, but I am trying my best. I have Axels2000 in my sights, though, just because we seem to be keeping right by each other, and why not a little friendly competition amongst fellow MWC'ers?

Now, lets go kick some butt on those two empires who have taken the lead from us and are currently kicking ours and sweeping up the galaxy with it!

Most likely the aforementioned people are not finishing the games that fast, they may just be submiting them that close together. Then again some people do have a lot of free time (see GROSS and Fellowship threads ;p)

Oh and as far as the healthy in house competition, bring it on, if we can't take the taunting in house we shouldn't be dishing it out to the other empires. Hope top have you nipping at my heels someday soon.

The "Cranker of the Metaverse" title goes to EBZ hands down. He claims to be able to crank a Small game in 15mins if he tries his hardest.
Where did GROSS pick up such a sadistic alien dominating machine called EBZ? Amazing. 15 minutes? Way too impressive.
Haven't had this happen in a while, just finished a game hit submit and nothing......Errhh!!
EBZ plays at Beginner/Normal.

Try again later, surther. Sometimes there are glitches in the metatrix.
i figured it out, I was so eager to submit that I didn't notice that I submitted under my old original name, so those score are trash unless someone over at stardock decideds to be nice. I started a string to ask. We shall see? (fingers crossed)

Maybe that's the ticket... play at the easy levels just to get the points, but then I don't enjoy the game at easier levels. Right now I'm up to "tough" in my current game (everyone set to Intelligent). I just completely kicked the Arcean's butt and took all but one of their planets. I'm playing as Pacifists, so naturally I didn't start the war. I just finished it. Before that, the Yor thought they were hot shots. Eventually, they came begging for peace. And even though I am chaotic evil I've got the Altarians to not dislike me. So now it's back to the game so I can decide who to let attack me next. LOL
