A global social swap would be nice.

Am I the only one who'd like a global social swap as well as the global military swap? I find a lot of the time my planets have built all the good buildings and then I have to go to each and every one to tell them to build the new thing I just researched.
I suppose if you have governers set up on all your planets it's easy to add your new building onto the end of the list but I don't like them, if a high % of players use them then a GSS is not needed.

Also, could the global military swap lists be alphabetatized? The ships seem to be in a radom order and change places from time to time. Perhaps an "Anything" option could be added to the "all ships building" section too.

At first I didnt think I would like the governers
either, but now I adore them.

here is why.

The ford governer is the default governer for every
planet. You dont even HAVE to set a planet to a
governer. Simply putting the item in Ford's
queue will make the next item every planet builds that
item.

You can then goto any particular 'exception' to this
buy going to that planet and changing the governer
to one that is still blank.

This is the first game of MANY turn based strategy games
where I actually use the governers and feel that they
were put in the game as they should always have been
simple, reliable as all hell with not even a hint
of trying to think for themselves(which always fails)

One of the many great features of the game imo and I
have refused to use the same feature in every other
similiar game.

"The ford governer is the default governer for every
planet."

He is? Wow, that changes everything.

"The military swap is another great feature too"

Yup, but having the lists in a decent order and an "Everything" option would make it even better.

Why would you want a global social swap?

Just put it in the governor queue near the top. This way, any planets will finish whatever they're building and then start the new social project.

For example, when I get research center, I may decide to put it as #7 in my queue. If a planet is already building a medical center, which is lower priority, it will then switch to the research center when it's done.

The only time you might want to do it is if a planet is building a shipyard, but you were just using the shipyard as a placeholder.

There is an interesting undocumented feature: If a planet is building a social project, and you change it to a new project, you get to keep any accumulated progress if you go back to that project later.

That point about social project accumulation was the major duh for me. For many games, I thought the progress was forfeited once the project is switched :)

No, it really wasn;t clear at all. I just didn't get it, but of course I have been up all day, and my brain is fried, but another explanation would still help :) .

I actually find use for that holdover social production. If I run into a social project dead end on a planet, I simply stick it on harmony generator or something like that and know that later I can change it to something more useful. If the planet runs into a serious morale problem that actually warrants a long term social solution, then it is simply a matter of going back to that unfinished generator and know it will be finished in real short order.

So while rolling over the unused points directly into another social project (like we can do now for ship building) does sound appealing, there is usefulness in the way things can be done now. Some see it as wasted points in a dead end project (assuming one is not choosing no project at all), but I see it as building for the future if the need arises.

"Why would you want a global social swap?"

Because I didn't know the first govener was the default on all planets, but I do now thanks to staffa.

Still, what about my second two points? For the global military swap the list of ships should be in some kind of order and I think a way to tell all planets building any ship to switch to something else.

EB: Assuming it was just my first paragraph that made no sense, I wanted to be able to change what planets were building all at once, like you can do with ships on the global military swap screen.
