EMPIRES UPDATE: Goodbye to All That

A quick update for newbies on the Empires in May.

The European Alliance (sometimes referred to as Shibboleth Central) shot to numero uno. Much hugging and double-dip kissing ensued. In an ironic twist, the Emporer is French and the Empire's cyber-base appears to be somewhere in Belgium.

The ANZACs (who look up to everyone) continued their march up the table, inspired by the great mottos: "If you've got it, hold it"; "If you are not number one, you have lost"; and "Keep the sheep in the family".

The Apolyton and Imperium Galactica Empires seem handicapped by the very nature of their members. Apolytonians are currently all too busy modding Galciv, to find time to actually play Galciv, whilst IG members are investing way too much time in viewing repeat episodes of Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica.

G.R.O.S.S. (a noble club led by hard-to-get-really-angry Young Bloods) benefitted greatly by merging with Staffa to steamroll the MWC.

Conversely, The arty Mid-Eastern Confederation may soon be gutted, given the VERY strong rumours that an Allegheny Plateau Empire and The Adirondack Mountains Empires are about to be formed.

Arnor celebrated a good E3 by backsliding out of the Top 10. Apparently, their last business meeting quickly devolved into a big dance party somewhat like Matrix 2.

Nothing whatsoever to report on the Canadian Star Federation.

Finally, there was a strong push to form a Former British Possessions Empire which, it was thought, would have most Galciv players flocking to. Unfortunately, this foundered when no Brit could be persuaded to form it and become its Head of State. It seems the Brits are all tied up with red tape at present in their current union.

An alternative suggestion to form a British Empire met with stunned silence, except for one pirate who promptly suggested the formation of Scottish and Irish and IRA Empires. This quickly caused the whole mad idea to be shelved.

Hope this explains the current politics of the Empires and where they are all heading.

Inspired by your merger with Catalyptic of course.

Courtesy of G.R.O.S.S. of course. That was our target all along. Knocking Frogboy out of the top 10. :)

Oh Pontinus (I think Impune_Lacessit's name for you is actually quite becoming) you know that now Frogboy is back, using words like 'Misty Hymen' will get us expelled from the boards. And guess what, Impune isn't French! This changes everything! ;p

Anzac I think you should become an independant. That way your reporting would seem more creditable. Maybe form a Media-Empire :)

If you check page 7 of the Top Empires list, you'll find that the Stardockians have their own empire. Frogboy is the only Stardock employee in Arnor as far as I know (granted he's our lone Senator and holds Grand High Poobah status). Contrary to popular opinion, we're not dead yet, we're just pining for the fjords. Why if they hadn't nailed me to this computer, I'd have bent this little game in two and VOOOOM! - high score. ;)

End transmission.

RETRACTION

I have been asked to make a retraction concerning the reporting I did above. There are certain errors and half-truths which must be corrected.*

Errors:
1. The Emporer of the European Alliance, Impune Lacessit, is apparently stateless and currently running for the European Parliament in the UK (we wish him luck).
2. "Keep the sheep in the family" is in fact not an ANZAC motto. Experience has shown that it agitates our Kiwi brethren way too much to be at all useful.
3. The ever-so-slightly prickly Apolyton members are in fact contributing MORE than mods to the Galciv community. Thank you.
4. The rumoured formation of the Allegheny Plateau Empire and The Adirondack Mountains Empire is a total fabrication. It seems not even Americans know they are in the States.
5. The Arnor Empire apparently has no connection with Galciv. Nor has Frogboy ever been to a business meeting or indeed, to a dance party.

I am sorry for any distress the above report may have caused. I have now been sentenced to 100 hours of community service at Galciv, which I am hoping will lead to a job at CNNNN ('we report and you believe'**).

[* Note: Some facts may have been changed or re-arranged for dramatic effect]
[**Note: a line used in an Oz comedy]

Christopher Packer,

I here that there is an open space with the New York Times. With your skill in manipulating the facts I think you would be an ideal candidate for the job.
