EMPIRES UPDATE: Goodbye to All That
from

A quick update for newbies on the Empires in May.
The European Alliance (sometimes referred to as Shibboleth Central) shot to numero uno. Much hugging and double-dip kissing ensued. In an ironic twist, the Emporer is French and the Empire's cyber-base appears to be somewhere in Belgium.
The ANZACs (who look up to everyone) continued their march up the table, inspired by the great mottos: "If you've got it, hold it"; "If you are not number one, you have lost"; and "Keep the sheep in the family".
The Apolyton and Imperium Galactica Empires seem handicapped by the very nature of their members. Apolytonians are currently all too busy modding Galciv, to find time to actually play Galciv, whilst IG members are investing way too much time in viewing repeat episodes of Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica.
G.R.O.S.S. (a noble club led by hard-to-get-really-angry Young Bloods) benefitted greatly by merging with Staffa to steamroll the MWC.
Conversely, The arty Mid-Eastern Confederation may soon be gutted, given the VERY strong rumours that an Allegheny Plateau Empire and The Adirondack Mountains Empires are about to be formed.
Arnor celebrated a good E3 by backsliding out of the Top 10. Apparently, their last business meeting quickly devolved into a big dance party somewhat like Matrix 2.
Nothing whatsoever to report on the Canadian Star Federation.
Finally, there was a strong push to form a Former British Possessions Empire which, it was thought, would have most Galciv players flocking to. Unfortunately, this foundered when no Brit could be persuaded to form it and become its Head of State. It seems the Brits are all tied up with red tape at present in their current union.
An alternative suggestion to form a British Empire met with stunned silence, except for one pirate who promptly suggested the formation of Scottish and Irish and IRA Empires. This quickly caused the whole mad idea to be shelved.
Hope this explains the current politics of the Empires and where they are all heading.
