Possible to limit planet quality in generated maps?

Is there a way to limit the range of planet quality in maps generated when starting a new game? For example, limit all planets to a quality range of 0 to 20 (no planet will be created with a base quality above 20).

Better yet, is there a way to set a quality range for each type of planet, e.g. barren planets can be created with a quality up to 8, heavy gravity planets up to 12, etc.?

You can however preset the quality of all planets in the customplanets.XML file. And that's only regarding the planets of the major factions.

With one exception... the default 'init values' will always go from 10-4-0-0-0 per systems even when these numbers are changed (or different, including lowest) within a CP.xml file.

Believe me, i tried... and the Homeworlds must have a minimal PQ of 10 while the second planet cannot be lower than PQ4. I sooooo wished for the Fantastic-Four race in CoSH to have a true PQ4 homeworld, since they do have the Thalan tree edges -- plus a few more tiny adjustments to other Super-Heroes starting conditions would have provided some new challenge. Call me a gameplay balance freak! :annoyed:

As for the initial OP 'request', there **COULD** be an indirect way to control some aspects of PQ ranges for the extremes by fiddling with the old PlanetDescription.xml file since there are some limit fields that maintain such constants. Never tested it though, but i don't see why it shouldn't be possible... this, being for DL or DA only, btw.

Well that expains why I couldnt have just one habitable planet for my starting system!
