lose of performance?!?!?!

well i updated my game to 1.11 and got a few surprises

1 lost all my previous saved data. replays, game saves etc.

2 (and most important of the 2) i lost a huge chunk of performance

i used to be able to run the game maxed at 1680x1050 with 4aa and was getting 60fps in huge battles (300-500 ships) after patching though im barely getting 8fps with no aa and only 100 ships combined. now i wanted (and tried) to get the 1.05 patch but b/c its not posted anywere on the web i cant get em and since impulse (curses under breathe) wont let me choose now im stuck with crappy performace on a game that i loved just the other day :(.

does anyone have that patch archived or saved somehow or is there a way to get that patch so i can play again i miss my large armadas and galatic domination.

EDIT: computer specs q6600 @ 2.7ghz, 2 9800gtx sli'ed and oc'ed, vista 64, and 4gb of ram.

Odd indeed.  I also run at 1680x1050 4aa and I never got 60 fps on 500 ship fleet battles and on paper i have a faster system.   In actuality i've seen a performance increase with 1.11 from 1.05.  I would oftentimes get 10 fps (sli or not) with heavy fleet battles with 1.05 but that doesn't happen as often for me now.  Perhaps you should try disabling SLI for sins just for testing purposes.  Turn bloom off.   With SLI on when you zoom out to the galaxy view, panning using the mouse moves the screeen  waaaaay to fast with SLI on and there isn't an fps increase mind you evena temp increase on my video card when it's set to single gpu for sins.

Specs E8400 @ 3.6 2 9800GTX+s Sli'ed but disabled for sins. 4gb ram vista.

thanks for the post, im worried b/c this happen only after i updated my setup (sli and all) worked great with bloom and all and now wont work for ****. i'll try ur suggestion though and turn bloom and sli off and see if it helps at all.

i was thinking the same thing!

then i went back to desctop to discover my anti virus was running a scan grrrrr

i dont run any anti virus or firewall other than the windows one. anyway i turned bloom off and i got a small boost in fps from 8 to 25-26 and highs of 40 but they never last long (that was with sli on) with sli off i got highs of 30 and lows of 15 but they mainly hovered around 25 (but were still a bit choppy).

im going to try and oc my rig a bit more and see if that does anything but i firmly believe that its the patches fault so if you know were i could find the 1.05 i'd appriciate it very very much.

I swear my game runs horribly choppy now as well, although it's not related to my video card but rather my proccessor seems to be having problems with the new update. Even though I can be zoomed all the way out, the game still runs at about 5 to 10 frams a second when not all that much is happening. It only happens once I get deep into a game and mostly everyone has there fleets maxed out (I think it's having problems calculating all that movment over an internet game). Although I am going to attempt to mod it myself, I think the fleet size options should go even smaller for big games with lots of AI and human players. I feel we don't need that many ships since the AI is just going to spam a 100 carriers anyways.

One thing I have noticed is that I am now able to bring my video settings up a couple notches from before without a loss in fps, even in large battles. Although even with the settins all at the lowest (putting it to highest doesn't do anything really to the fps), the game runs choppy in these big games that my frined insists we play.

I'm gonna pull my 2nd video card physically from my system and see what that does for performance.   I installed my 2nd card for SLI around the time that 1.05 came out and that is when i really noticed a few performance drop with SLI on or off.

Frankly,,,  i love this game however I want to know what kind of a system I need to run it at 45 fps or more even during large 200+ ship battles. What system do the magical devolopers play this game on to make it look pretty and smoothe?  Every game I play I maintain a solid 60 fps.  I have a pretty solid system and i really wanna know what I have to do to get this game to run solid during those epic battles.  Next time you get a heavy battle pause and then spin the camera around.  It's not a graphical issue.  I think it has more to do with the abilities and modifiers.     For fun I really want to get a multiplayer game going with some LARGE battles but no abilities.  None.  I've always notices that it when multiple area buffs and abilities are being simulcasted.

When do you encounter the FPS drop?

What are your FPS when you start the game?

Single or multi player?  Vanilla sins or modded?

Single star  or multi star and if so how many?

What is your highest FPS and lowest during battles?

Are multiple abilities being used when you encounter the lowest FPS?

How many hours into the game before you see a noticeable drop in frames?

Also answer these same questions about how all this ran in 1.05.

well i checked the cpu usage and it doesnt seem to be the problem as only ~45% of it is being used and 60% of the ram. even after ocing my gfx/cpu more i still dont notice a difference. i had the vram up to 1300mhz and still no improvement :(. i want my 1.05 patched game back. i also sent a ticket in to support when i started this thread and still havent herd back. to get good performance on that single card set up try these clocks (if ur using the 98gtx+) core 770mhz, shaders 1944mhz, and vram at 1200 got my 60fps on 1.05 but now not sure good luck.
