Help with Cielo Command Cruisers

I am the kind of Game player that likes to know what everything does and what is strengths and weaknesses are (as most players do i presume) and one ship, the TEC command cruiser is really bothering me. more specifically the designate target ability. It seems to me like this ability is useless in the sense that it  takes over command of MY fleets. I can understand the argument of "If you dont like it dont use it duh -_- " but i want to know if it CAn be of any use to me

so if anyone could tell me how it may have helped them or what it might be used for many thanks will be awarded.

oh! p.s. when the cielo boosts attk pwr and efficiency like the training manual says is there a certain ammount percentage-wise that that is raised by?

Designate Target shouldn't be doing anything regarding actual command of your fleets.  The ability is basically like the Tau Markerlight in Dawn of War - It tags a specific unit and anything you fire at that unit deals more damage (40% more, as I recall).

You can choose 'not' to fire at that unit if you'd prefer.  Essentially, it's just a damage buff.

Umm, its really quite a useful ship. I'm pretty sure designate targets does not force your ships to attack the ability's target. Even if it did, the ability enables your ships to do 40% more damage on that target, so it could still be worth while.

Its other ability restores 2.5 shields per second to one of your ships and increases its rate of fire by 10%, thus increasing the DPS by 10%, which is always a good thing.

In short, I would build more Hoshikos for repair than these guys, but these guys are great supports for battles with lots of caps. If you've researched them, why not use them

A 10% increase in rate of fire is more than an 10% increase in DPS. Rate of fire buffs are super nice.

Hmm, just tried the math, and on all the ships I tried your right. Suppose I should crunch the numbers before using specifics...  :typo: (need a better oops digicon)
