System Requirements?

want to know before i pre-order

Hey,

I've got an 8core mac pro with 6GB of ram, however i'm only running an ATI 2600XT. I'd wanna run at 1920x1200 in descent quality, as as there are no official system requirements out yet, I thought I should inquire before downing $45.

 

Any 'unofficial' system requirements for the current beta?

I highly doubt you'll max it at that res with a 2600XT. It's a very weak card.

 

I'm running at 1440x900 completely maxed with x8AA and rarely drop below 60FPS. System specs:

 

Q6600 @4Ghz

6Gb DDR2

8800 GTS 512Mb

yeah, but wil it be playable? I'm upgrading soon anyway, so I guess it's a moot point, just curious

playable; yes. but not at 1920x1200.

just grab a HD4850 (at the minimum, considering the powerhouse of the dual Xeons you're packing) and you'll be kiting rings around the best of them.

 

if you're set on getting the game anyway, i'd recommend pre-ordering now so you can play... ahem, test the beta as soon as you upgrade. if you've got a best of a computer like that, and you're looking at upgrading then what's a mere $45?

The problem is that Macs require video cards to have a specific BIOS flashed to them and not the standard BIOS that are on normal PC video cards. At least, that's how it was a year or two ago.

aye. then that would explain why nVidia released special 8800GTs for Macs. may i enquire as what requires the custom BIOS; the OS, or some Mac hardware?

The official requirements is out and it's exactly the same as Supreme commander since it uses supcom engine.  Playing the beta, I feel it's exactly the same.  You can download the supreme commander demo to see how your system handles it.

but ignore the graphics card line; there's been issues with old cards without SM2.0
