Daschle gets dumped.

Bye, Tom....

Tom Daschle has lost SD to John Thune.

I've had the dubious pleasure of meeting Tom a couple of times....and I don't care for him.  He's manipulated the people and he's lied. He's paid people for their vote, and he's deliberately targeted the Native American population, going so far as to pay people for their vote (he was also accused of registering dead Natives to vote and of bussing intoxicated people to the polls last time around) He's used scare-mongering tactics, like telling folks that the only reason Ellsworth AFB is still open is because of him.  That if he goes, Ellsworth goes, and so does a sizeable chunk of changed for the west river economy.

Tom, your time's up.  Run out.  The people of SD have seen you talk the talk at election time, but not walk the walk.  It's time for a change.

(My prediction is that Ellsworth will be on the '05 base closure list, and that Daschle will try and tell everyone that if he had been re-elected that wouldn't have happened.  That's bull; the list is already past the initial draft stage so if Ellsworth's on there it would have been put on there before Tom got ousted.)

I know!  I don't live there any more, but I spent 9 years there and watched Daschle bullshit his way through.....so I'm glad that John Thune has a chance to show what he can do.

*laugh*

Daschle's loss was almost the only silver lining to what was a very cloudy evening for me. Well, that and the fact that I won't have to look at John Edwards anymore. I hope.

P.S. Thanks for linking me, but you've got the wrong link. I'm actually "moderateresponse.joeuser.com" instead of myrrander. *grins and hugs*

Great news... now maybe in the next cycle we can get rid of Dorgan or Conrad up here in ND... (well, it's only 4 more years)

If they're congressmen, then it's either 2 more or 6 more. Definitely not 4.

Myrr...i noticed the link was wrong last night.  I'll fix it today.

Redshirt: isn't it great?!  I really, really cannot begin to tell you just how much i despise that man, and how glad i am for the people of SD that he's no longer in office.

Not true--Senators are re-elected in cycles, with 1/3 of the Senate coming up for relection every 2 years. So, in 4 years, 33 Senators will be up for re-election.

That's what I meant. The next time Conrad is up is in 2008...

K~

Right on, Sistah! Everyone I've met that's been associated with Daschle has been a complete asshat (Is that the proper Brit term?).

When I went to school at the U of MN in Morris...I was in a political science class with someone who had worked with the Daschle campaign and then went on to be involved with the College Republicans (which makes no sense?). He was a total jerk...and even after I left stupid Morris, he and his cronies stayed at the hotel I worked at...we looked at each other...said hi, and I haven't said a word to him sense. Thank goodness.

I have heard nothing about nice things about Thune as far as his being a nice person too.

BWaaahahahahahahaha! Buh Bye, tom!

BWaaahahahahahahaha! Buh Bye, tom!

That's what I wanted to do too!!!  Rub my hand with glee and give him the finger during his concession speech.

But, I'm too nice to do things like that.

Yeah, right.....

Good bye, and good riddance!
Next: Orrin Hatch!

Let us hope that loud mouthed A$$hat is next.

Well, John Kerry's in at least until 2008...I think HE should be the Minority leader!

Kerry didn't even put his name in the running for Minority leader--it was between Chris Dodd (CT) and Harry Reid (NV). Dodd pulled out at the end of the week, so Reid has it all wrapped up--they just need to make it official with a vote which I believe occurs in December.

Next: Orrin Hatch!
I buy that!
so Reid has it all wrapped up
I thought Dorgan threw in his hat.

Dharma, with your perception of Daschle, it is obvious you are thrilled--enjoy.

Yeah, Orrin Hatch needs to move on too.

Steven, it really has nothing to do with politial affiliation.  Dem, Rep, it doesn't matter....Daschle has done a whole lot of talking and not much doing for the people of SD for years now.  It's more of a personal dislike for Tom than it is anything else.

You know, I'm not thrilled about this election results.  I'm not ecstatically happy that GWB was re-elected.  I'm not enjoying all the contraversy and bickering that's still going on.  I just thought that Bush was the better man for the job this time around.

Fair enough--to each his/her own.
