military victory

hi
i'm having trouble winning ,even on beginner.
there's alway some civ demanding money and if i rufuse to shell out they declare war and i'm always outgunned.

any hints to achieve a military victory...maybe my research paths are wrong..

You might have better luck getting suggestions in the GC Strategies forum.

What bonuses are you picking at the beginning of the game? If you're picking all bonuses that increase ships power, you may want to consider adding military production bonuses instead. That way, you'll build ships faster and the AI won't try to bully you.

Also, how is your economy sliders set as? The default of 33-33-34 doesn't cut it - there are more optimal combinations such as 45-15-40. You also want to take a look at the tax rate to see if it can be improved.
