Beta 3 Tournament

The devs have brought up the idea of having a friendly tournament (as in competition, not metagame) in Beta 3.  It might be to early but maybe we could talk about what that might look like?  Brackets?  Prizes?  Game Options/settings?  Allowable maps and DGs?

Personally:

I'd expect brackets for 1 v 1 all the way up to 5 v 5 (if the netcode can be made to work that high)

Good Prizes If they want to save money: Impulse Gift Certificates, Game Posters signed by devs, DG T shirts, Special Forum Status, Special Forum Signatures, Special Persistent Ingame Titles

Good prizes if they want to spend money:  DG Gaming PC peripherals (still can't go wrong with an MX 518), Special Persistent Ingame Items, Frogboy's new PC. 

Game Options: Grunts on "Strong," Death Penalty on "Draconic," Favor items "Off," Game Speed "Fast"

Maps: 1 v 1 Prison, 2 v 2 Cataract or Mine, 3 v 3 and 4 v 4 Leviathan, 5 v 5 Zikurat.  Finals should be on a map we haven't seen yet.

All DGs should be allowable, but each team should be allowed only one of each type (no 5 Reg synch-sniping teams).

iono about beta 3 because there will definetly still be bugs/imbalances that somebody will exploit. Maybe just a dev stomp minus the prizes :D. Or fun prizes like you said:

Here is a cool bracket hosting website if it is needed: http://binarybeast.com/ They can handle double elimination brackets too.

I think the game options should just be the default. That is what everyone has been playing with mostly, right? The only exception is I would prefer favor items off in order to level the field.

Also, game posters signed by devs is a pretty cool prize.

There should be some limits, but we should probably wait until Beta3 to decide that.

If everyone agrees on certain options (example being a multi Reg team if Reg multisnipe damage was a diminishing return or complete inability to multi-snipe altogether)

or Favor items (certain ones are useful all game whereas others are only useful at a particular point in the game , such as the health potion or the regen aura) which could be free for the duration of the tournament if someone somehow didn't manage to gain the <501 favor points required for any single item but knew how to play the game well enough to win the tournament o_O

Ideally a tournament would be tracked by Impulse.  My impression is that is part of why the devs were talking about it in the first place ;P

I like the idea of 3-5 balanced favor items that everyone agrees on being free and available in tournament play.

yah I'm realizing that an all-bracket event would take a long time, considering this is still Beta.  Would people be disappointed if it were one bracket only?  If not, which bracket would be best? 

I know we are jumping the gun a fair bit with this convo, but I just wanted to see what people were thinking ^^
