I think I broke my game...

I recently bought Gal Civ and I’ve totally been enjoying the game. I figured that after a few learning games I’d go at it for real and start a serious game, no holds barred. Medium galaxy, completely giving into my dark side (the Yor think I’m swell guys and I’ve finished my collection of Wilderness Animals). The Altarians have been giving me some serious lip so I figure that they just have got to go. I build up my fleet and start mopping the galactic floor with them, repeatedly sending them running back to their home world crying for their mommies.
After a couple of truces where I bleed their bank dry and grab some systems in the deal, I figure that I’ll finally stop toying with them and just turn them into the slaves they should be. With the kids loaded into the Interstellar SUV, I head over to their last system, wipe out the defenses and prepare for the ground assault. Seeing as how I only brought 6 billion troops and they’ve got 43 billion, I go for the “Intelligence” form of warfare, hoping that I can get enough of their people on my side to really lay some smack down on them and finish them off.
This is where things start getting weird. I won the ground assault with about 2 billion people left over, drop back into the main view and see the following on my minimap (I don’t see how to post images here so I’m providing the URL for the image):

Oh, my FREAKING god! I’m wondering what in the name of I did to cause THAT to happen! I mean, yea, I took that technology that lets me bring my dead soldiers back to life, but geez! I must have brought the past 18 generations back to life to get an effect like that!
The next turn when I’m adjusting the building plans on those planets, I noticed this:

Look at the population on the planets. On each planet there’s…
ONE HUNDRED BILLION PEOPLE!
Dr. Evil pose
A couple of turns later, the minimap looks like this now:

and I’ve still got on each planet:
NINTY BILLION PEOPLE!
Dr. Evil pose again
I’m wondering, what did I do to cause that?!? I guess you can call this a bug report, but I’m just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if it’ll have an effect on me submitting my score to the Metaverse. I swear that I havnt messed around with the settings in the code, no mods, nothing. I’ve upgraded to 1.03 with the bonus pack and that’s the only change I’ve made.
While this is funny as hell, this one game has been going pretty well and I’d like to submit it but I’m not sure if the system will take it. If any of the dev’s would like to look at my save games, I’ve got before and after saves and can explain the steps I took to get this result.
However, in the mean time, I’m going to enjoy the fact that I just gained two planets with…
ONE HUNDRED BILLION PEOPLE!
MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
