That I think describes well the fact that Master of Orion 3 is Now FREE or get it FREE with Galactic Civilization!

Like a Minnow eating a Whale Galactic Civilization has gone from a game that hoped to garner sales from a simple Flyer in the Master of Orion 3 Box to Now owning the Ocean and getting the Whale at no cost!
Who would have ever thought such a thing would happen? Not I, that is for sure.

Well, Frogboy and Company must be both Pleased and a bit saddened to see their Game do so well and another game do so poorly in such a short time.

This is a remarkable turn of events for sure. I personally, have never seen a New Game go from $50.00 to FREE, ever! let alone in about 3 Months.

Free is amazing, yup. I don't think it has anything to do with GalCiv, as much as the um.. quality of MOO3. But free *is* a good price for even that game, even if it is free 8 to 10 weeks after you actually pay for it, and not exactly free because you have to pay for shipping. ;p

I'll probably (re)buy it now.. free is usually a good deal!

I think that $0 is way too high a price for Master of Orion III. We really ought to have a class action law suit against the programers for intentional infliction of emotional distress. I have never seen a game so anticipated, or one as bad priced at $50. The only way I will ever forgive them is if they do Master of Magic II, and without screwing it up.

Richard, that is so forgiving of you to let the MOO3 folks try and redeem themselves if they did MOM 2. Some folks in my little neck of the woods thinks that they would rather shoot the developer than to let them defile another sacred relic. (Never let computer gaming ubergeeks run wild!) Personally, I feel that I have a choice in who fronts the cash to develop the game (I certainly don't have it), but I just hope that whoever takes up the challenge will realize that it is messing with a classic.

As for the prospect of a free MOO 3, fascinating. Just shows what poor planning, poor execution, and poor follow up will do for ya.

The great Irony is, one of the devs got hired to teach a class at a university on how to design a video game


Actually if you bundle it with Galciv, it's 3 bux off the Galciv price. In effect, You're being paid 3 bux to take it off their hands. Yet it still ranked only 40 in sales yesterday. Unbelievable. But I think that one, even patched, is destined to gather dust on the shelf.

I'm just lucky I didn't rush out and pay 50 bux for it. And I darn well will hold off on MOM2 when it comes out.

The dev in a University is Alan Emrich.
He's not really responsible for that mess: they fired him on April 2002. In my eyes, he's got the benefit of the doubt.

I too am more then happy not to have bought it. After so many hours on IGMOO forums, I felt it was stinking... >:(
