Updating issues

So, I had a few issues when I went to update to the latest beta. After a few uninstalls and reinstalls, I finally thought I had it working. Both Sins and entrenchment were running fine. So I thought. After entrenchment minidumped on me, I thought, whatever, and sent it in, then played a new game. It did it again.

Odd.

I went to impulse to verify the installations. Basic sins was installed fine, it said, but entrenchment was a little off.

"Oh" I thought, "that explains it."

So, I hit the update files button that shows up. It updates. Yay. Verified again, said everything was fine. I go to play, and now both sins and entrenchment are giving me the "sins has detected an earlier version of entrenchment installed" dialog box. Huh? WTF.

Any ideas? Is it an impulse issue, making me download files I didn't need? Anyone? This has been several days of me struggling on my own. Any help would be nice.

I read in the forums somewhere that you are not supposed to verify the sins entrenchment installation because that will break it. Try uninstalling both and reinstalling sins then entrenchment.

Yes.  You'll have to do this anyway with the official version being out because of changes in the directory structure.

Uninstall both Sins and Entrenchment, then delete the directory where they were installed to make sure the uninstall worked properly, sometimes it misses files.  (On Vista the directory is C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire)

Then install both again and you should be ok.

Ah, thank you very much for the advice. I really appreciate the work you guys put in, but this latest beta has been something of a nightmare...
