Why are the very good planets purple?

It seems more like a player aid than anything else. Purple systems have higher influence, but not necessarily better planets than a normal yellow star. Kinda reminds me of that Roman things about purple being a regal color.

Maybe purple atmosphere reflects more ultra-violet light, making people get fewer sunburns.

PQ 14 planets look cold and icy, yet seem fairly livable for some reason.
PQ 15-17 are Earth-like with increasing size.
PQ 18 is strangely out-of-place, being all green and yellow, like some-sort of junle world.
PQ 19-20 are Earth-like again, increasing in size.
PQ 26 or better planets are those glowing purple huge ones. They are very rare naturally, but you'll probably make some yourself once you have Terraforming technology. They are Eden-like worlds with higher production values.

Gerakken was talking about purple *stars*, which apparrently also exist, but are also very rare. Purple stars have higher influence but not necessarily higher-quality planets.

Er, I believe there are 2 types of purple star systems - ones with higher influence, and ones with higher quality planets.

Oops. My mistake. Yes, I was thinking stars and not planets. I should have read it more carefully. I have only run into one natural PQ 26 myself.

On a scientific level...I could understand a star being purple. I'm sure there's a chemist out there with enough jarble to make something up and still be 50% correct.

As far as high PQ planets go...now I know why the morale always goes up to 100% after terraforming...with everything being so damn BRIGHT AND COLORFUL...it's like Easter everyday!

There are those psychedlic mushrooms. Lots of them are purple.
No guess why everybody's happy on those planets.
