This Morning's Update

Jace has gone from 270-something to 230-something this morning, so it looks like at least another day before he can come home.  Typically jaundice peaks on day 5, which was yesterday, so I am encouraged that he will be coming home tomorrow, but who knows.  And I certainly won't express that to JLO or B.

JLO has been a real trooper.  She tries so hard not to get her hopes up as they go off to the hospital each morning, but how can she help it.  And since the more time he spends under the lights, the better, it's not like she can even spend the day there cuddling him.  So they go in each morning and she nurses; they wait for the day's bloodwork results and shes nurses; they leave and run errands and come home so she can nap.  Then they go back so that she can do a couple of feedings in the evening.  In between all of the comings and goings, she pumps so that he can have her milk during the overnight feedings and the afternoon feedings when she is not there.

Once this baby does make it home, I don't think she will ever let him go!  She has a lot of cuddling time to make up for and I suspect even this new gramma will have to wait quite a while for her turn!  But fortunately, grammas also take a great deal of joy in watching their babies loving their babies, so I can wait happily...once he is home, safe and sound.

If there is more news before tomorrow, I will edit this to update it...but unfortunately, I think we just need to get through one more day...
