I think the maps for 1.15 and entrenchment are the same version

edit: there are only 3 that are for entrenchment, the rest are same as v1.15

edit: there are in the entrenchment folder

there is a utility that can convert any version 2 map to 1.15/entrenchment's version 3. it is on the downloads page for english language windows. I have updated the utility AND added a entrenchment galaxy.manifest manager program into the same rar which I can email if you pm me an email that can recieve a 30KB rar file

jack_davidson & xceptone, any sins map version 3 when placed in the galaxyforge folder next to you mods folder WILL work in the galaxyforge map type.

Assuming you have sins 1.17/entrenchment 1.03,  the galaxy forge maps NEED to be placed here for xp
C:\Documents and Settings\'user name'\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge

or here for vista/windows 7
C:\Users\'user name'\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge.

NOTE the first two folders after the 'user name' are hidden , so to see them you must first click on 'tools' then 'folder options', then 'view', then click on 'show hidden files& folders' then click ok, then you will be able to browse your want to the folder. I suggest when you find the folder that you create a shortcut to it on the desktop

also the galaxy forge maps only show up in the galaxy forge tab of map types

and if a map you want to play was released before 25th feb 2009 then you will also neet the sins map updater from here

cheers harpo, made a map quickly just to see if it works, placed it in the same directory as said for win7 but doesnt show up and but what about the maps from the original sins? Does one have to use the map updater?

xceptone, the original maps are in the sizes ie small medium & large maps, but the galaxy forge maps show up in the galaxy forge group.

the sequence of map groups is

small

medium

large

map designer (in the map designer folder next to the mods folders)

galaxy forge ( in the galaxyforge folder next to the mods folders).

sins 1.15+ & entrenchment 1.00+ all use mapversion 3.

if you have sins 1.15/entrenchment 1.00/1.01 then the maps also have to be added to the galaxy.manifest in the entrenchment folder, but I would suggest updating your sins with impulse to the current 1.03 as there are several bugfixes and balance fixes in the 1.03

also if you are using an old galaxyforge to create the maps then you need to use the map updater to update the maps to version 3 as there is a LOT more than just  a version number change

my friend had the same problem, all i did was transfer all maps from sins of solar empire galaxy folder over into entrenchment galaxy folder, and made sure that all appropriate files were in the windows folder in entrenchment/window

but I'm 100% sure that all previous maps in sins of solar empire/galaxy did not need any such version update, because they worked perfectly.

i also replicated this with other installations on other computers.  so erm ,what to do?

assuming you have an entrenchment 1.02 OR later, place the custom galaxy file in the galaxyforge folder next to your mods-entrenchment-v#.### folders the maps will then show up in the galaxy forge tab, if you place them in the program files galaxy folder you will also NEED to update your galaxy.manifest in your entrenchment folder(this is also true for entrenchment 1.00 & 1.01 and is needed for 1.00 &  1.01)
