Another possible AI cheat

I got an early wonder built out from under me by the AE. I went back to a save a bought the wonder. Low and behold that turn he built the economics capital instead. Anyone else test this?

Economics capital is not a wonder. Everyone can build it.

couldn't they have just purchased it, you know, kinda like you did? the AI does play by the same rules after all.

really though, there's been tons of threads where Stardock has come out and categorically stated that the AI DOES NOT CHEAT except for the whole "knowing where yellow stars are" thing which is mentioned in the manual and the production bonus at genius and incredible levels.

cheers

The AI does cheat in producing wonders/trade goods, but it is unintentional. They still aren't being blocked from building them after a wonder or trade good is built. As of version 1.01 - 34, you could do this as well though. Just select the "Generic" build que. Now, that world will build them as well.

I've also had the situation where I and an AI built the same trade good on the same turn. I don't know if that is supposed to be legal or what though.

I do find that the AI knows where everything is irritating. I've watched it hunt down freighters and constructors (of other AI), when I wouldn't know where things were without having scouts and drones following them all around. You can watch them pop up from orbit and run down things across a huge galaxy, if you have things in the right places at the right times...

And my main complaint with the AI knowing where the stars are, is that it runs straight to them. If they at least had to make a couple of scouts and run them for the sectors with star dots in them, like us humans, I think I could a few 15+ worlds occassionally... but I suppose that's why you have minor races. Nice planets to take over...
