Start = black screen

and nothing happens.  I can't ctrl-alt-del and then alt-tab out of it. I think it's a firewall looking for an "allow" but I can't alt-tab like I can with any other freakin game on the market. It doesn't matter if I start with Sins launcher OR the Sins of the solar empire icon.

Don't make me post my computer, it freakin fine (got it a year ago and it runs everything Supremem Commander, DOW2, no problems). I think it's stardock adding so much piracy protection (I hope they all get prostate cancer, this is the only company I have problems with).  I was planning on getting entrenchment but I forgot what dealine with Stardock was like. I "updated" through there new service and ever since then it doesn't work.

Anyone else have this issue? What did you do?

Wow, including the wish that Stardock employees will get cancer will definitely raise your chance of getting help here, thumbs up! And who knows, posting this in the technical forum might've been some help as well. But well, that's just me, and as soon as you read this I'll be a victim of the cancer-curse as well I guess. By the way, Mr. "my comuter is freakin fine, it runs everything", did you try to actually allow Sins to access the internet before starting Sins? Just a wild guess, won't put any effort into this until you improve your attitude. Show some manners and the community will show you some help. That's the way it goes.

Updating changes the exe, which a firewall would treat as a brand new program.  I agree with Azrak_Navarion, try letting SINS through your firewall before you start the game again.  If it is a firewall problem, then it is completely YOUR problem, not one for Stardock/Ironclad to deal with.

It's not a firewall problem, I promise. It wouldn't give a black screen. Did you try...IDK uninstalling and reinstalling it?

And, asshole (i say that as nicely as possible), there is no "piracy protection."

You can install the game on as as many computers as you like. There is no Digital Rights Management.

Impulse, if that's what your referring to, just allows you to get updates easier, and allows for the developers to give you updates more often.

Judging from your attitude, I would assume that you've not reached 15 years, but then that might be an insult to people of that age.

Your insolence, if decidedly more widespread, would drive me to condemn humanity. Your ignorance is what i've grown to expect.

Personally I think you should check the installation of the game because it usually mean that there is a minidump

I get this too, on the demo. played it once - worked fine. then came back to it afew months later. black screen then crashes.

I have tryed reinstall game, deleting C:\Users\....\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting folder

changing to windowed mode, removing intro movies.

still crashes, any ideas?
