Gal Civ 2 Direcx 10 error

Or some such hoo-hah, it's all double dutch to me...

Aaaanyhoo, completely new to this who posting and forums and whatnot, so forgive us if I do something wrong or if this problem has already been solved, but anyway, yeah.

Recently installed Gal Civ 2 on my computer with directx 10 installed before hand, when I tried to run the game then it came up with the error message:

      "Galactic Civilizations 2 requires DirectX 9.0c to run. Please go to http://www.microsoft.com//directx and download the latest version"

Any help would be much appreciated, cheers.

Download and run the DirectX runtime from the following link;

A default Vista install lacks the needed Dll files from DirectX 9, go figure.  :rolleyes:

Hope that helps!

I'm having the same issue with 9.0c.  I've reinstalled and updated the game twice now, and reinstalled Directx once.  I'm on WinXP.  I just can't get GalCiv2 to recognize my version of DirectX.

What video card and driver versions do you have? If you're getting a DirectX error on XP, that's more likely the issue.

I'm on a Geforce FX 5500, and I'm using the most up to date drivers for it.

(driver version 175.19 release date 7-9-08)

Here's a link to my post with all the debugging information the forums ask for (I hope):
