can i update sins even if its on another HD?

when I 1st bought Sins there wasnt any room on my pc, so i installed it on a portable HD. that pc crashed but i have another 1, but it wont read dvds, HDCDs, or some regular cds. now that the patch is out i would like to update it, but its saying that i dont have a certain file or it cant find it or something. what can i do? if all i need is that file then maybe someone can send it to me or something.

more details would be helpful...

which file is missing for instance, what is the exact error messsage...

also, can you just get a perhiperal cd drive and install the game again?

or, at the very least, if you register your copy of sins on impulse, you should be ble to redownload it no problems...

my game is already registered on impulse, before i was either unable to download it again because there was either a limit or an unreliabl connection, but now i should hopefully be able to download it again. thanks for you help though
