Hanger bonuses and carrier bombing.

Soooo after playing all of the races in entrenchment, i couldnt help but notice that the Advent hanger's bonus is completely different from the other two. The hanger does nothing to help against strikecraft like the other two do, and so I didnt really think it was that great. What do you guys think?

 

Also, on a completely unrelated topic, whats up with the way carrier caps bomb planets?? in all of the other ships, the bombs/lasers come out of completely reasonable places, but for the carriers, it makes no sense. on the TEC carrier, the nukes come out of a wall in between some lasers, on the Advent carrier, the kinetic bolts come out of the nose, right were there are a few antennae, and on the Vasari carrier, the lasers come out of the SC HANGERS!! i didnt know hangers could fire lasers....sooo yeah.

The hanger does nothing to help against strikecraft like the other two do, and so I didnt really think it was that great.

I've heard that this upgrade is really powerful. It makes friendly structures very durable.

Advent hangars do nothing against enemy SC because they get an extra squad and also because Transcencias get extra squads as well.

 

n the Vasari carrier, the lasers come out of the SC HANGERS!!

Actually, the hangars on the Skirantra are these little holes on the sides. The seige beams don't come out of the hangers. They come out of these rectangular openings.

Fot the other races, I'm not sure. Sounds like the textures need an update.

pretty sure the Skiranta has 3 launch bays, 1 underneath and 1 on either side. the ones on the side are where the siege beams come out of. the little round openings on the flanks of the Skiranta are definitely the Wave Cannons not fighter launch bays. its way easier to see the wave bolts come out if you have Bailknights mod installed, otherwise you might have to zoom in and squint since the Skiranta shoots small reddish wave bolts instead of big green ones. 

 

i agree, its weird that the carrier ship models weren't built with an obvious siege weapon. oh well. 

 

re: Shield Bestowal

 

it makes buildings tremendously more durable. its not just the 750 bonus health, which isn't that much since most buildings have like 5k hull already. its the fact that it grants them shield mitigation so the buildings can eventually reach 57% damage reduction while the hangar is still alive. 

 

tough luck on shooting down fighters though. can also keep a couple of defense vessels parked near a repair bay, that works well.

Out of all the defenses, the advent's are the most annoying to me.  If I dont focus on the killing the hangars first, It could easily take me twice as long to clean out a gravity well if I just randmly destroyed buildings.

Doesn't just grant them shield mitigation.  It seems to grant them actual shields as well.

Shield mitigation implies having shield, otherwise it would be kinda pointless, no :p?

Shield Mitigation is integrated into the armor and hull of any ship with SM once the shields go down.  I also think that cap. carriers were designed before their planetary bombardment capabilities were in place.
