Update required

My game version is Main 1.00.0091 but i cannot play as it tells me i need to update. Clicking 'update' in game closes the game and returns me to impulse, where nothing happens. I have verified my installation, logged in and out of impulse, checked for updates, reset my impulse preferences all to no avail. Does anyone have a solution to this?

Im running windows XP pro fully updated

Also having this problem - I updated my windows XP, but when I try to play multiplayer in game it says I need to update - on Impulse, it wants me to re-download the entire game even though I already have it installed (not changed the directory or anything. Tried re-installing Impulse but that did nothing either.)

Game worked fine before I updated.

From within Impulse:

-Click the Impulse Logo in the upper left
-Choose 'Preferences...'
-Click the 'Reset Data' button
-Close impulse and relaunch it. You may notice a long update time, which is normal as it is rebuilding the deleted info.

If this does not help, try downloading and running the following file:

http://sd.stardock.com/curthendzell/fix_registrations.reg

you'll need to save the file before running it.  Once you do, close and re-launch Impulse.  It should ask you to log in again.

tried both again; still no go. No update option anywhere in games tab, no update option in the impulse overlay while in game. Still on .0091. I dont even get prompts that i need to update while in the online area or when attempting to join a custom game.

I tried both recommendations above as well.  I get the update prompt, but when I click it DemiGod closes, I get returned to Impulse, and nothing else happens.  No update.

No one in all these posts have even stated what version is the "correct" one, every one asks wich version they are currently on and having problems with but, no one has said wich we should be on. Hell im on 1.00.047

I followed everything in your post Shirley but it did not fix it. I have now uninstalled and downloaded the game again, it works this time.

Yeah I'm reinstalling also.  Very odd, my Impulse changed 'last updated' from 4/9 to 4/14 but didn't actually download or want to download anything that I could tell.

Yep.  I couldn't find the manual in my last install either, and now on the fresh install I can.  Makes me wonder if the update data got mangled somehow, or the update was pushed through while I was installing it the first time, or something like that.

I've tried everything in Shirley's post and still  cannot update the game. I've even don e a fresh install with no luck. I am running version 1.0.0.0091

TO clarify:

  • I've checked for updates from inside Impulse, and from the docked Impulse icon - nothing
  • I 'Reset Data' and nothing
  • I 'Verified Installation' and nothing
  • I Uninstalled, and Re-Installed, twice, and nothing
  • I even tried the Registry 'fix' which made me have to re-install Impulse with no luck.
Any help would be awesome, Thanks!

AFAIK .0091 is the latest version. So this seems to be an issue in the update notification or the version check.

.0091 or .0097?

I had 1.00.047 (the downloaded day 0 release), but still could never start a multi-player game.

Today's mini-update, 1.00.048 has fixed all my problems!

Thank-you.

Impulse version 1.00.048 will be the latest.  The version number in game will be different.  Best to go by what's in Impulse.
