Single Player - Skirmish Game Slow Down and Lag

I was playing Demigod in windowed mode on a laptop. It was a single player skirmish game 3 vs 3 map. In the middle of the game, it slows down and lagged extremely badly to a point of almost freezing. The laptop is using the Nividia GeForce 8400M GS.

Currently for some single player games, it is unplayable because of the extreme lag or slow down during mid-game.
