Ships Scrapping

Is there a way to reclaim a portion of the ship cost, by like scrapping over a planet, or is there another option. since the AI have BB and dreadnaughts, I need to upgrade but i have a whole flet of now worthless battleaxws

No scrapping of ships but you could sell them away rather easily for some BCs.

Yep, you can trade them to an AI. If they're really obsolete, you won't get much -- e.g. don't expect a single BC for a defender when the AI has battleships -- but at least you'll save the maintenance costs.

I would love a scrap feature. I hate disbanding because I'm a firm believer that RECYCLING WORKS!!!

I hate handing ships over to the enemy also. (All aliens are enemies, ally or not)

Ships should have some kind of a bc value when disbanding. Nothing big...just SOMETHING.

Even if you can't sell the obsolete ship to the AI, you can gift it to them. I think you get a small diplomatic boost. The AI will probably keep it and be stuck with the maintenance. It's amusing to see the AI to keep the scouts I gave it.

I'm usually able to pawn off starfighters on the minor races all the way through the end game. I also found that I get quite a nice penny selling battle cruisers....so much so, I turned into an arms dealer of sorts for the minor races. Put me into good graces with all of them at way. Allows me to easilly get them on my side when I need them.

Yep it worked, I gave for diplomacy credits, corvettes and defenders , and was able to as 1 person said arm dealers the losing races, and got about 100 bc for each battle axe every time, even with rangers and Loads of dreadnaughts i was still getting 100bc for a battleaxe!
