Instead of making demigods move faster

Some people seem to want demigods to move faster, I agree they often seem a little on the slow side but someone in another thread stated that faster movement speeds were tried in beta and it was too easy to get in and out of fights.  How about making the movement speed bonuses from the items you buy in the shop more significant?  Or alternatively, having more of the footwear items apply movement speed bonuses?  This way you're trading speed for survivability and casting rather than just having a flat speed increase.

While I was a little shocked so few demigods had movement-oriented abilities, I think currently the speed boosts on items are right where they should be.

Demigods definitely shouldn't move faster, people just need to know when an engagement is too hot, and learn to retreat earlier.

yes

I really really hope Stardock and GPG hold of on tweaking anything for about three months.  By then any REAL issues will have made themselves VERY appearent.

I just find the game to be really slow and boring when you're not actually in a fight(which happens to be for most of the game).  The fights themselves are decent but they're not really occuring often enough for the game to build up much excitement.  It seems like a large part of the game is just watching your demigod walk between your base and the contested flags.

Have you ever tried using the existing speed items? 15%+ from a favor item then 10%+ from boots and finally 25%+ from the wand of speed and you get an insane speed. (even faster with UB or Sedna abilities)

The demigods definitely aren't too slow especially since you can teleport all over the map anyway...

Yeah... Doggiedoodle it just sounds like you need to play more and get the hang of some more diverse tactics.

I really don't see an issue with the speeds. I mean...when someone gets insane movement speed, it stops being fun to fight them cause they can be halfway back home in 4 or 5 seconds.

The only time it bothers me is that first walk-out at the start of the game.

doggiedoodle, try carrying around some teleport scrolls with you, especially on bigger maps.  They're amazing tools to make retreats as well as to not waste time having to walk all the way to the front lines.

first of all, it only takes like 20 seconds to get from home base to the front line even on a big map like Zikurat or Brothers. not exactly a long time to wait. teleport scrolls can reduce this time effectively to zero as well. second, while it may be a bit more seat of your pants exciting to be dueling against enemy DGs thats not really what you want to be doing most of the time if you're focused on winning the map.

if you're in a part of the map without an enemy demigod contesting it you've got free reign to farm the creeps for exp and gold. you might even be able to solo push some towers depending on your own teams creeps/citadel upgrades and what build of your DG you're using. i hardly find this boring. in fact i find this to be the ideal situation as it means you're directly contributing to winning the map as opposed to just dueling enemy DG's.

I've been doing the things you guys are suggesting.  I guess I'm just used to RTS games.  In a good RTS there's some command that you need to be issuing pretty much every moment of the game.

yah, it goes with the territory of only controlling one unit.

one of the hardest things for me to learn when i started playing Team Fortress 2 was that you really shouldn't be trying to fight at all times. sometimes you have to wait and spend some time doing basically nothing, waiting for better battlefield conditions or for the enemy to walk into a trap you've set.

i think that Demigod probably has just as much in common (in terms of strategy and pacing, if not gameplay control style) with team based FPS games as it does with any kind of RTS game.

Haha, yep the Demigods are slow.

But i've made rook to be really really fast...with the +%movespeed items and the most expensive boots...it says "x% chance to increase movespeed when hit"

But the downside would be a soft Rook, needs to replenish life ALWAYS
